⚽ Great atmosphere at the Aviation Learning Centre during our latest Aviation Learning Meet and Greet – special World Cup edition! Alongside the usual conversations and networking, the table football competition brought an extra spark of energy and friendly rivalry this time.
👏 A big congratulations to our champions, impressive skills, focus and team spirit! Well deserved!

The ATM Training Team (ATT/28) meeting took place in Rome earlier this week, kindly hosted by ENAV. A sincere thank you to Fabrizio Scomparin and the team for a memorable and well-organised event.
Jenny Ludford, Director of Operations Training at NATS, was elected as the new Chair of the ATT for the next two-year cycle. Congratulations, Jenny we look forward to working together on evolving the ATT’s role in training, licensing, and selection.
We also thanked our outgoing Chair, Frank Klap (LVNL), for his leadership over the past two years and for bringing the ATT to where it is today.
Key discussion topics included:
👉Cross-border TRM initiatives
👉Supporting trainees and trainers throughout the full training lifecycle
👉ATCO selection research and implementation
👉Improving training effectiveness and the use of simulation in operational environments
These discussions highlight the critical role of collaboration and innovation in strengthening training frameworks and supporting the future of ATM across Europe.

🚀 Today, the EUROCONTROL Aviation Learning Centre (ALC) brings together Europe’s key U-space stakeholders.
We are proud to host the European Network of U-Space Stakeholders (ENUS) meeting, gathering service providers, regulators, and industry leaders to strengthen collaboration and advance the integration of unmanned airspace.
With key European partners present, including the European Commission (DG MOVE), EASA, the European Defence Agency (EDA), and the SESAR Joint Undertaking, today’s discussions are focussed on drone operations and urban air mobility.

✨ Innovation through collaboration at the EUROCONTROL Training Focal Point Workshop ✨
Over the past couple of days, we had the pleasure of bringing together our Training Focal Points — our key ambassadors for learning within their organisations. A big thank you to all participants for their engagement, openness, and continued partnership.
It was a fruitful exchange, with open discussions, valuable insights, and shared perspectives on current and future training needs. Engaging directly with our stakeholders helps us ensure that what we deliver remains relevant and that it adds value to the Network.
At the same time, we were pleased to showcase the latest additions to our training portfolio, reflecting how we continue to evolve and modernise our learning offer.

✈️ This week in Luxembourg, the Hazard Identification in Training Task Force brings together experts from across the ATM Network to develop practical guidelines for safety risk management in ATC training. This initiative is carried out under the direction of the EUROCONTROL ATM Training Team working arrangement, reinforcing our shared commitment to harmonisation and continuous improvement in ATC training.
📄 The Task Force aims to deliver a comprehensive guideline document by June 2027, supporting training organisations in strengthening their safety frameworks and practices. A great example of collaboration in action for the benefit of the ATM Network.

This week, the EUROCONTROL Aviation Learning Centre in Luxembourg hosted the ATC Working Group of the ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization Personnel Training and Licensing Panel, bringing together experts to advance the group’s work programme.
We are proud to have Ashley Lauryssen, our Lead CBTA Expert, contributing her expertise to discussions on:
✔️ the future evolution of Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA)
✔️ the qualifications of personnel authorised to conduct assessments
✔️ updates to ICAO Doc 10056 – Manual of Competency-based Training and Assessment
Through this work, we continue to engage with international partners to help shape future ready ATC training and assessment worldwide while reinforcing the relevance and practical value of the learning experience we offer our course participants.

📸 A sneak peek from one of our first deliveries of the Counter‑UAS Fundamentals [UAS‑CUAS] course.
This course instance brought together 44 participants from 18 countries to explore the realities of today’s drone threats and the challenges of counter‑UAS operations, including:
🔹 Drone operational tactics and threat scenarios
🔹 Detection and sensing technologies
🔹 Passive and active mitigation approaches
🔹 Future C‑UAS concepts
🔹 A hands‑on tabletop exercise on C‑UAS planning
Delivered by NATO’s Joint Air Power Competence Centre (JAPCC), the course is designed to raise awareness and build a strong foundational understanding of the C‑UAS landscape for all stakeholders involved in aviation security and resilience.
