Ashley Lauryssen is in Singapore with our colleagues from CAAS (Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore), helping them develop their own CBTA — Competency Based Training and Assessment — model.

This collaboration brings together EUROCONTROL expertise and CAAS local insight to build a training approach that’s tailored, measurable, and future‑ready. Big thanks to the CAAS team for their partnership and to everyone who made this possible.

✈️ Yesterday, our team had the opportunity to visit the Hybrid Tower Mock-Up at Luxembourg Airport for a sneak peek at the future of air traffic control in Luxembourg.

A special thank you to Claude Schmit from the Administration de la Navigation Aérienne (ANA) for welcoming us and providing valuable insights into this exciting initiative.

This innovative demonstration environment combines human expertise with advanced digital technology, integrating ultra-high-resolution camera systems and a real-time 360° view of the Luxembourg airport. The result is enhanced situational awareness, greater operational resilience, and an additional layer of safety.

We are now exploring how this unique facility could be made accessible to ALC course participants attending courses in Luxembourg, offering valuable exposure to the future of air traffic control and digital tower concepts.
Stay tuned for more!

EASA and EUROCONTROL are pleased to invite you to a Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) Workshop for National Competent Authorities (NCAs).

This workshop is designed to support your understanding of the amendment to the European ATCO Licensing Regulation (EU) 2015/340, applicable from 1 January 2029, introducing CBTA requirements for initial training and operational units/training organisations.

💡 Interested in identifying Weak Signals and anticipating emerging risks in aviation and other high-risk industries?

🎯 Simply focusing on human error, failure, or breakdowns is no longer sufficient to understand how today’s complex socio-technical systems actually operate, or how they may fail. This transition requires extending reactive, hindsight-based approaches towards more proactive ones that support foresight and the anticipation of future threats.
