KeNako asbl would like to express its deepest gratitude to all donors and supporters of the “Adopt a Child” initiative at the Fikelela Children’s Centre in Khayelitsha, South Africa.
What initially began as a response to a reduction in funding has grown into an incredible network of individuals, families, friends, churches and corporate partners who continue to stand alongside these children with generosity and compassion.
This year, 22 children are attending school, bringing with it many additional needs such as stationery, school excursions, civvies days, fundraising events, tuck shop days and food fairs. Thanks to your support, these needs can be met and the children are able to participate fully in school life with dignity and joy.
Your contributions also help provide:
• Extra academic support classes for children who are struggling academically
• Weekly swimming lessons for 20 children in Khayelitsha, supported by 4 volunteer life guards
• Daily care, encouragement and opportunities for all 37 young beneficiaries at Fikelela
KeNako asbl also experienced emotional but beautiful moments this year as 5 children were reunified with their families. Watching them grow and seeing family members step forward to continue walking beside them is truly a blessing.
Every smile, every opportunity and every step forward is made possible because of your kindness and continued trust in this project.
On behalf of all the children and staff at Fikelela Children’s Centre, KeNako asbl sincerely thanks you for your ongoing support, love and care.
Until next time,
Mike Frantz

What an incredible achievement, Dan — 7,810+ km through some of the toughest conditions, and still finishing with such strength and spirit. Your words about the “unvergleichbarer aventure” — an unparalleled adventure — and taking time for reflection truly capture what this journey was about.
But beyond the physical challenge, what makes this even more meaningful is your commitment to something bigger. Your support for KeNako asbl. and the children of Fikelela Children’s Centre in Khayelitsha gives this adventure a real purpose.
We were truly happy to be present at your arrival in Cape Town and, on behalf of KeNako asbl., to offer you a small souvenir — one that we hope will always remind you of your incredible effort for the children.
As you said, “a big THANK YOU to all donors who supported this adventure, and above all the children of Khayelitsha” — we can only echo that and thank you, Dan, for inspiring others and making a tangible difference.
Respect, gratitude, and well done on an extraordinary Tour d’Afrique finish 🚴🏿‍♂️👏

Today, we honored Claude Hilbert at Fikelela Children’s Centre with the fixation of a memory plaque, celebrating the completion of the solar project he so passionately championed. Though he tragically passed away last year, his vision lives on, shining bright for the children every day. Thanks to the generous support of the Rotary Club Junglinster Syrdall, Claude’s inspiring legacy has become a reality.
