We are more than proud to be a part of your wonderful path through our school and our music department. We are looking forward to many more performances like that!

Filling a two-hour slot has become an annual tradition, but the quality continues to improve. Under the direction of Mr Gareau, Mr Konen and Mr Rickard, the students from the music department at the Lycée International School Michel Lucius have once again demonstrated just how versatile and professional they are.

From classical flute music and choral singing to jazz, heavy metal and rap, there was something for everyone again this year.

Many thanks to our school management for their support throughout the year, but our greatest thanks go to our music teachers, who work tirelessly day in, day out to ensure a positive atmosphere among pupils and staff alike!

🎻 Großartige Neuigkeiten für das musikalische Handwerk in Deutschland! Und die Geschichte des Geigenbaus in Deutschland ist beachtlich. 🎶

Entstanden ist der Geigenbau in der Wende vom 15. zum 16. Jahrhundert in Füssen. In der bayerischen Stadt wurde 1562 auch die erste Lauten- und Geigenmacherzunft gegründet. Von dort aus fand der Geigenbau seinen Weg nach Italien. 🇮🇹 Nicht lange nach der Weiterentwicklung des Geigenbaus in Oberitalien gelangte dieser nach Mittenwald. Als erster Geigenbauer gilt dort der zuerst in Füssen und später in Italien ausgebildete Geigenbauer Matthias Klotz (1653 – 1743). 🪚

In Bayern gibt es heute zwei Geigenbauzentren: Mittenwald und Bubenreuth bei Erlangen. Außerhalb Bayerns finden sich Betriebe in der Region Sächsisches Vogtland. Daneben führen viele Geigen- und Bogenbauer:innen in allen Regionen Deutschlands eigene Werkstätten.

You’ll sometimes spot our dedicated music teachers on one of the many cultural stages here in Luxembourg and beyond. Every now and then, they’re also mentioned alongside some very renowned Luxembourgish and other composers. The Bech-Berbuerger Musek is performing a Luxembourgish programme, and this time an arrangement by our head of music is being played by this very band. We’re naturally very proud of our colleague. Do pop along if you’re in the area.
