Why Becoming Your Child’s Emotion Coach Begins by Managing Your Own Emotions First 08/11/2020

The mastery of emotions can be learned! 😊
While they cannot be denied or cancelled, the way we handle emotions can be improved! 👧🧒💝

"In the event of an aeroplane emergency, passengers are advised to secure their own oxygen masks first, before helping others.🙏

The reason they're asked to do so is that people unable to breathe (or those who are unconscious) are of little help to others." 😥❤️Sanya Pelini

What a fantastic activity and a great time!👏🙂❤️

I have a small matryoshka doll in the classroom, with six inner dolls nested inside. It’s always been a favorite activity, and is rarely on the shelf for long when children are on-site.

Several weeks ago, in need of a few minutes to fill, I took the doll from the shelf, disassembled it, and then put it back together with careful movements. I lined up the bases in a line and the tops in a line, with the “baby” at the center. After that, the children frequently requested that I show them the Russian nesting doll again and again. They are often silent with rapt attention when this happens.

This lovely moment prompted me to fulfill a lifelong dream and also blow the children’s minds at the same time. I searched online and found a big matryoshka doll for sale. It cost a little more than I should’ve spent, but the children’s reactions today were more than worth it.

I told the children that I decided to order a big nesting doll. My younger children in particular have been thrilled with the idea of this doll arriving in the mail, and we’ve been tracking it as it moved across the world. The children were absolutely astonished at the massive size of this doll (as was I!). To give you some scale, the smaller doll next to her (our dear old classroom matryoshka) is 6 inches tall. Our big new matryoshka is a good 15 inches tall, and there are 15 dolls nest inside her. She’s huuuuuuge! To open the first three dolls, you have to “hug” the top and “hug” the bottom and then twist them apart. She’s that big!

Yesterday she arrived, and today I brought the unopened mailing box to school and unboxed it in front of the children via Zoom. The doll was much bigger than I expected and we were all mind-blown together. I let the suspense build as we got closer and closer to the baby at the center. With each new revelation they were convinced that it had to be the last one, but there was yet another baby inside. So many delighted exclamations and bright, joyful faces.

It was an incredibly fun morning. And now I also have the matryoshka of my dreams ❤️

A rainy day reaches out to our senses in different ways. 🌂🌧😊

The air is crisper; dirt turns to messy mud, the sandpit fills with wet sand perfect for building and cooking with. 💦🙂
We hear rain dripping and drumming on different surfaces; climbing becomes more challenging as surfaces become wet and slippery introducing elements of risky play.🙃

The living things outdoors behave in different ways or come out of hiding because of the rain.🐜🦔🍂🍁
