This month, University of Luxembourg was delighted to welcome 10 secondary school students for the Girls 4 STEM Immersion Day.
Throughout the day, participants discovered engineering studies and career opportunities while exploring our Kirchberg campus and laboratories.
In the labs, the students learned about hardmetals and laser technologies, created their own drawings, and saw them engraved onto copper and nickel-coated pieces. They also visited the 3D printing lab, where they explored additive manufacturing.
A big thank you to the students for their enthusiasm and curiosity, and to our colleagues for making this inspiring initiative possible! 🤗

Our Bachelor and Master students and PhD candidates in Civil Engineering at University of Luxembourg, accompanied by Prof. Rebecca Teferle, visited two outstanding infrastructure projects: the Bodensee-Wasserversorgung at Sipplinger Berg and the Brenner Base Tunnel construction site.
At Sipplinger Berg, students learned how Lake Constanze provides drinking water to more than 4 million people across over 300 cities, towns, and villages in Baden-Württemberg through one of Germany’s largest water supply networks.
They also visited the Brennerbasistunnel, which will become the world’s longest railway tunnel when completed in 2032. Stretching 65 km between Innsbruck (Austria) and Fortezza (Italy), the tunnel will play a key role in European passenger and freight transport, significantly reducing travel times across the Alps.
The excursion provided a valuable opportunity to connect theory and research with real-world engineering practice. The scale, complexity, and societal impact of both projects sparked many discussions among students and researchers.
💬 "As an academic it was wonderful to see how the students of all educational levels came together and exchanged on this experience and their work at the University." states Prof. Teferle.

Students from the University of Luxembourg’s Bachelor in Computer Science and Bachelor in Applied Information Technology recently took part in the Erasmus+ EU🚀ROcket Lab in Metz.
Bringing together students from Luxembourg, Spain, and France, the programme challenged them to work in interdisciplinary teams to design, build, and programme model rockets equipped with sensors to transmit real-time data.
A hands-on experience that reflects Uni.lu’s approach to learning: practical, collaborative, and international. 🌍
