The University of Luxembourg is coordinating SOLID-AI, a new Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership on digital identity, online manipulation and democratic resilience in schools. Led by Dr Robert Reuter, with Gilbert Busana and Christian Meyers of the Department of Education and Social Work, the project brings together universities and secondary schools in Luxembourg, Estonia and Greece to help 14- to 18-year-olds recognise how influencer culture, AI-generated personas and coordinated information manipulation shape what they see and believe online.

Over 30 months and with EUR 400 000 in EU funding, SOLID-AI will co-design a competence framework with students, teachers and parents, build an AI-assisted learning tool for classroom use, train teachers across the three countries and establish school-based intergenerational hubs. All results will be openly licensed.

Teaching in a risk-free classroom: the University of Luxembourg joins the European AI4PD project

A new Erasmus+ cooperation partnership is building an AI-supported virtual classroom in which teachers can rehearse, experiment and reflect. Luxembourg leads the project's dissemination and brings its research on multilingual and inclusive education.

The University of Luxembourg is a partner in AI4PD — Artificial Intelligence for Personalised Education — a European cooperation partnership selected for funding under the Erasmus+ programme (KA220-HED) by the European Union Programmes Agency, the Maltese National Agency. The project runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2028 with a total budget of €250,000.

AI4PD develops an AI-supported Virtual Classroom Reflection Platform: a simulated teaching environment in which student teachers and practising teachers can try out assessment-for-learning strategies, receive feedback and reflect on their practice before taking those strategies into a real classroom. The starting point is a familiar gap in teacher education — teachers rarely have a structured, low-stakes space in which to experiment, because a real classroom makes a poor laboratory.

The platform will be developed with teachers rather than for them. A needs analysis and co-design workshops in the three partner countries come first, followed by a shared pedagogical and ethical framework for the responsible use of AI, a library of classroom scenarios drawn from three quite different school systems, and a prototype that will be piloted with 90 educators — thirty in each country. All results will be published in open access, together with recommendations for teacher education institutions and policymakers.

The Luxembourg contribution is led by Dr Robert Reuter of the Department of Education and Social Work (Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences), who also heads the University's Institute for Teaching and Learning. The University brings its research on multilingual education, digital pedagogy and inclusion to the design of the classroom scenarios — which have to work in classrooms where several languages are present at once — and will coordinate the Luxembourg pilot. The University also leads the project's dissemination and exploitation work package for the whole consortium, and will host a national multiplier event as well as the closing transnational meeting in Luxembourg in May 2028.

AI4PD is coordinated by the Institute for Education in Malta. The consortium further comprises B&P Emerging Technologies Consultancy Lab Ltd (Malta) and Ibn Haldun University (Türkiye).
