Goodbye Tokyo! We’ve had a blast! 🇯🇵

On today’s program a visit to Hie shrine, shopping in Harajuku, night visit to Shinjuku. A lot of walking today!

Started the second day in Tokyo at the famous Tsukiji Fish Market.

Then we headed to Asakusa, where tradition and history can be felt in every street. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a matcha tea experience with three geishas before visiting the beautiful Sensō-ji temple.

We brought the more than 1.000 paper cranes our students from the LCD made as a symbol of peace to Children’s Peace Monument, inspired by Sadako Sasaki. We also visited the Peace Park and the museum — a quite moving experience

Not exactly Hokusai’s Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji — but almost. 🗻✨

From the shinkansen on our way to Hiroshima, we’ve had what felt like countless different views of Fuji passing by the window. A pretty great reward after the stress of changing trains at Tokyo Station… especially since our shinkansen from Iiyama was one of the very few trains in Japan running 5 minutes late 😅.

Goodbye Kijimadaira! Thank you for 5 amazing days spent in your company. A special thanks to the host families who took such good care of our students. We’ll meet again in Luxembourg in autumn 2027.

This morning we explored the magnificent Matsumoto Castle — one of Japan’s most beautiful original castles.
In the afternoon, we slowed down and soaked in the peaceful atmosphere of Zenkō-ji.
