Did you know? Grandmaster Si-Kung Norbert Máday is the leader of the Eastern European Wing Tsun KungFu organization (EEWTO), who brings authentic Leung Ting Wing Tsun KungFu to Europe and provides an opportunity for people interested in martial arts to learn this martial art.
Biography of Si-Kung Norbert Máday:
🔸In 1984, he became interested in martial arts after watching Bruce Lee's film “Enter the Dragon”. He became a student of Slavko Truntic, leader of the E.E.W.T.O. in Zagreb (Eastern European Wing Tsun Association).
🔸In 1986, he opened his first Wing Tsun school at the Piarist Institute in Kecskemét.
🔸In 1987, he opened more schools in Kecskemét and began teaching in other small towns.
🔸In 1988, he organized the first seminar in Budapest for Croatian Slavko Truntic, under the direction of the then director of the Eastern European Association. There, he reached the twelfth grade.
🔸In 1989, he passed the first master exam under Slavko Truntic and Milan Prosenica. In 1991, by invitation of Grandmaster Si-Jo Leung Ting, he visited Hungary and conducted a seminar.
🔸In 1992, he opened his first school in Budapest. That same year, Si-Jo Leung Ting taught classes in Hungary again.
🔸In 1994, he successfully completed his second mastership.
🔸In May 1995, three of his students passed their first master exams under Si-Jo Leung Ting.
🔸In 1999, at the request of his master, he traveled to Hong Kong and China, where he popularized Wing Tsun in his home country through highly successful demonstrations.
🔸In 2002, the founding Grandmaster of Wing Tsun, Leung Ting, formally adopted him as a son during a traditional Chinese tea ceremony (Bai Shi).
🔸In 2003, his master asked him to accept the position of Chief Instructor of the American Wing Tsun Association, but he could not accept it for the benefit of his students in Eastern Europe. In 2005, he received his seventh-degree master rank from Grandmaster Si-Jo Leung Ting.
🔸In 2006, he received the eighth-degree master rank from his master.
🔸In 2011, the Grandmaster asked him to train his son John Chung in Wing Tsun.
🔸In 2012, after his seminar in Budapest, Prof. Leung Ting announced that the leader of the EEWTO, Norbert Máday, had reached the ninth-degree Grandmaster rank. He was the second in Europe and the third in the world to receive such a high honor.
🔸In 2022, he erected a commemorative plaque in memory of his first master, Slavko Truntic, in Kecskemét.
🔸In 2023, he traveled to Hong Kong with eight of his students. That year, he received the tenth-degree Grandmaster rank at the gala celebrating his 40-year career, awarded by Grandmaster Si-Jo Leung Ting.
🔸In 2024, he presented his new book in Hong Kong, titled “Yip Man, the Grandmaster”. The presentation of his work was honored by the last living disciples of Grandmaster Yip Man.
