🇱🇹 Praeitą savaitę trečio kurso VILNIUS TECH studentus(-es), gyvenančius(-čias) bendrabučiuose, pasiekė informacija, kad dėl planuojamos 5-ojo ir Grybo g. bendrabučių renovacijos ženkliai sumažės gyvenamųjų vietų skaičius. Studentai(-ės) buvo informuoti, jog jiems(-oms) nebus galimybės pratęsti šiai dienai galiojančių sutarčių ateinantiems mokslo metams. Tokį universiteto administracijos sprendimą lėmė siekis atlaisvinti vietų būsimiems pirmakursiams.

Džiaugiamės universiteto siekiu atnaujinti bendrabučius, „užtikrinant visiems universiteto studentams kokybiškas, saugias ir šiuolaikiškas gyvenimo sąlygas ateityje”, tačiau esant tokio didelio masto pokyčiams svarbu užtikrinti ir tinkamą komunikaciją su studentais(-ėmis). Deja, bet jau galima buvo pastebėti tam tikrų nesklandumų - bendrabučių administracija nevienodai informavo gyventojus(-as) apie numatomus pokyčius, dažnu atveju pateikdami klaidinančią ar dar nepatvirtintą informaciją.

Jau ne pirmus metus VILNIUS TECH SA universiteto administracijai akcentuoja atviros, sklandžios ir nuoseklios komunikacijos svarbą. Deja, vis dar pastebime tam tikrų trūkumų. Todėl norime paskatinti VILNIUS TECH peržiūrėti, kaip yra vykdoma vidinė komunikacija studentams(-ėms) aktualiais klausimais.

Studentų atstovybės nuomone, aukštesnis prioritetas turėtų būti teikiamas esamiems bendrabučių gyventojams(-oms), o ne būsimiems(-oms) pirmakursiams(-ėms), kurie dar net nėra įstoję. Džiaugiamės kitų aukštųjų mokyklų praktika, kuomet tiek bendrabučių vidaus taisyklėse, tiek apgyvendinimo sutartyse yra numatyta, kad esamiems gyventojams(-oms) yra suteikiama pirmumo teisė apgyvendinimui kitiems mokslo metams. Todėl dar kartą raginame VILNIUS TECH peržiūrėti vykdomą apgyvendinimo bendrabučiuose politiką.

Tikime, kad bendrabučių administracijos veikla gali būti tobulinama, tad kviečiame visus VILNIUS TECH bendrabučiuose gyvenančius(-čias) studentus(-ės) užpildyti mūsų anoniminę apklausą. Apklausos rezultatai bus naudojami teikiant siūlymus universiteto administracijai.

🇬🇧 Last week, third-year VILNIUS TECH students living in university dormitories received information that, due to the planned renovation of Dormitory No. 5 and the Grybo St. dormitory, the number of available housing spots will significantly decrease. Students were informed that they would not be able to extend their current contracts for the upcoming academic year. The university administration made this decision in order to free up space for incoming first-year students.

We would like to emphasize that this situation does not apply to international students – they will not be required to move out of the dormitories.

We welcome the university’s initiative to renovate the dormitories, aiming to “ensure high-quality, safe, and modern living conditions for all university students in the future.” However, with changes of such scale, it is crucial to ensure proper communication with students. Unfortunately, certain issues have already been observed – dormitory administrators have provided inconsistent information to residents, often offering misleading or unconfirmed details.

For several years now, VILNIUS TECH Student Representation has been emphasizing the importance of open, clear, and consistent communication with the university administration. Yet we still notice gaps. Therefore, we encourage VILNIUS TECH to review how internal communication is carried out on topics relevant to students.

In our view, priority for housing should be given to current dormitory residents, not to future first-year students who have not yet been admitted. We appreciate the practice at other universities, where internal rules and accommodation agreements include a clause giving existing residents the right of first refusal for the next academic year. We once again urge VILNIUS TECH to review its student housing policy.

We believe that dormitory administration processes can be improved, and we invite all VILNIUS TECH students living in dormitories to complete our anonymous survey. The results will be used to form proposals for the university administration.
