TEACHING LANGUAGE THROUGH SONGS AND GAMES
Music and games are great language package that bundles culture, vocabulary, listening grammar, and the other language skills because of this; we want to teach English through songs and plays while also teaching our own language to the other countries. The main aim of The Comenius Multilateral Project is " Teaching Language Through Songs and Games." Th
e main idea is illustrate the current situation of language through songs and games in primary schools. Using songs and games while teaching English classes is to engage students in speaking and understanding the English language better and making it more enjoyable. In addition to this, our aim in this project with games and music is to see the smile on the students' faces after each activity. The project is aimed at teachers, pupils, parents and the community that will be contributed to the project by preparing presentations, videos, displays, dramas, contests, books and a web site. We will inspire each other through interesting ideas, meetings, initiatives, visits and activities. Therefore the title for the first year will be Traditional Songs and in the second year we will be concentrating on Traditional Games. While also incorporating both together as a finished outcome. Our project team consists of five schools. Turkey is coordinator and partners are from Poland, UK, Lithuania and Romania. The ages of students are between 4 and 14 so they are keen on playing games and listening to the music. The theory of multiple intelligence inspires us that we can teach better by the help of games and songs. As we know that pupils can learn better by making and living. We wanted to adapt games and songs to our language lessons. We intent to teach foreign language in a much more interesting and fun way. We also wanted to share and learn other countries' language, cultures and schools' teaching methods in the learning and teaching of foreign languages. Learning by first hand experience will be invaluable through over seas visits. Language skills will be inspired and much more interesting with a goal. It will also help widen the children, their parents and the communities ideas towards people from all the different countries and be less blinded. It will open our horizons to a wider European community.
