Today, our students had the privilege of participating in a powerful and interactive motivation session facilitated by the Lesotho Defence Force Youth Development Department led by Colonel Melato.
The programme went beyond a motivational talk. Students listened to real-life testimonies on the consequences of indiscipline, gained insight into the realities of military boot camp, and took part in practical hands-on activities that reinforced the importance of teamwork, resilience, discipline, and leadership.
Some of the key lessons shared included:
Intelligence plus character is the goal of true education.
Write your vision down and pursue it with determination.
Build positive habits through diligence and consistent effort.
Choose your friends wisely and resist peer pressure and drug abuse.
Your values are your compass—let empathy, humility, discipline, and integrity guide your decisions.
Take care of your mental health.
Remember: You can be better than your current situation.
One powerful reminder that resonated throughout the session was:
"We are born looking like our parents, but we end up looking like our choices."
The interactive demonstrations and activities challenged our students to step outside their comfort zones, work together, and appreciate that success requires commitment, discipline, and perseverance. As another memorable quote reminded us, "Nothing works until someone works."
We sincerely thank the Lesotho Defence Force Youth Development Department for investing in the growth and development of our students. Your time, wisdom, and practical engagement have left a lasting impression, inspiring our future nurses and midwives to lead lives of purpose, discipline, and service.
