A truly beautiful and informative guest lecture hosted by the Department of Theology and Religious Studies.

The Department offers courses that engage with important contemporary issues, including Human Sexuality and HIV & AIDS, and today’s guest lecture provided our students with an opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom.

We were privileged to learn from Ts’epang Maboee, an HIV & AIDS activist, who shared his experiences and perspectives, and Advocate Ts’oeunyane Mokobori, who brought valuable legal perspectives on human sexuality, consent, sexual rights, and the protection of children within the Lesotho context.

It was a beautiful intersection of health, counselling, advocacy, and law, giving our students a more holistic understanding of the realities surrounding human sexuality and HIV & AIDS.

A sincere thank you to our guest speakers for sharing your knowledge, experiences, and expertise with our students. Your contribution made the session truly meaningful and enriching.

Day 2 of the NUL–UFS WoRiTH engagements continued with curriculum development discussions between academics from UFS and colleagues from NUL’s Departments of Development Studies and Theology and Religious Studies.

The engagement provided an opportunity to share expertise, reflect on existing programmes, and explore ways of strengthening teaching, learning and academic development.

Through collaboration and knowledge exchange, we continue to work towards responsive curricula, academic excellence and stronger student outcomes.

The Faculty of Humanities at the National University of Lesotho continued its engagement with colleagues from the University of the Free State (UFS) on Day 2 of the NUL-WoRiTH programme.

The Department of Theology and Religious Studies hosted Dr Rosaline Sebolao and Dr Tadi from UFS, who engaged with our fourth-year students through an enriching seminar on translanguaging in psychology.

The session provided students with an opportunity to engage with contemporary perspectives in psychology while encouraging them to think critically about language, knowledge and the ways in which psychological concepts can be communicated across linguistic contexts.

The engagement also extended beyond the classroom, as students were introduced to important information about postgraduate study opportunities, requirements for pursuing Master’s programmes, and pathways for further academic and research development.

These engagements are an important part of creating opportunities for our students to envision themselves beyond their undergraduate studies and to see research, postgraduate education and academic scholarship as spaces they too can occupy and contribute to.

As we celebrate Women’s Month, the broader NUL-WoRiTH initiative continues to remind us of the importance of building academic spaces that connect, empower, mentor and create opportunities for the next generation of scholars.

NUL-WoRiTH Officially Launched at the National University of Lesotho

The Faculty of Humanities at the National University of Lesotho proudly hosted the successful launch of the National University of Lesotho Women Researchers in the Humanities (NUL-WoRiTH) on 26 August 2026.

The NUL-WoRiTH initiative was initiated by the University of the Free State (UFS) and has now been extended through collaboration with National University of Lesotho creating a valuable platform for women researchers in the Humanities to connect, collaborate, share knowledge and advance their scholarly work.

The launch brought together university leadership, academics, researchers and colleagues from both institutions for meaningful conversations on women in research, scholarly development, collaboration and women’s development issues.

The event further highlighted the strength of the growing partnership between the University of the Free State and the National University of Lesotho, and the opportunities that such collaboration creates for strengthening research and supporting women in academia.

The Faculty of Humanities extends its sincere appreciation to the University of the Free State for initiating this important programme and to all our partners, speakers, academics, researchers and guests who contributed to making the launch a resounding success.

Together, we are creating spaces where women’s scholarship can be recognised, strengthened and amplified.
