El Niño is coming back to Lesotho. The question is not whether it comes, but whether we are ready.
GEM Institute and ACT for Climate Change are bringing together key stakeholders for a National Conversation on El Niño Preparedness in Lesotho.

We invite farmers, herders, youth, researchers, climate practitioners, government, NGOs, development partners, the private sector, and stakeholders in agriculture, water and food security to join us.
The conversation will focus on strengthening food security, water security, livelihoods and climate resilience, while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals that guide our shared vision for a more resilient and sustainable Lesotho.

Preparedness begins before the crisis.

🎶 Supporting the Growth of Lesotho’s Music Industry

The Lesotho National Commission for UNESCO is pleased to recognise the Lesotho Spring Music Conference (LSMC)—an important platform contributing to the professionalisation and development of Lesotho’s music industry.

Founded by YME Music, LSMC brings together musicians, producers, managers, promoters, policymakers, rights organisations, technical professionals, creative entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to 'connect, learn, collaborate and build sustainable careers within the music sector'.

The initiative responds to the rapidly changing global and African music landscape, where digital transformation, copyright, publishing, streaming, intellectual property, music business and access to markets are increasingly shaping the opportunities available to creators.

For Lesotho, investing in the knowledge, skills and professional networks of our music practitioners is an important part of strengthening our 'Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI)' and unlocking the contribution of creativity to sustainable economic and cultural development.

Through panel discussions, masterclasses, workshops, mentorship, networking and practical skills-development sessions, LSMC provides an important space for Basotho creatives to gain industry knowledge, build partnerships and connect with opportunities beyond our borders.

The National Commission for UNESCO recognises the value of initiatives such as LSMC in 'empowering young creatives, strengthening cultural entrepreneurship, promoting intellectual property awareness and positioning Lesotho’s creative talent for greater regional and international participation.'

We commend YME Music and all partners and stakeholders contributing to the continued development of this important platform.

Sustainable water management depends on solutions that are tested, proven and rooted in local ecosystems.

Across 39 countries, 66 UNESCO Ecohydrology Demonstration Sites are showing what that looks like in practice. These real-world field laboratories apply nature-based solutions to restore water resources, protect biodiversity and strengthen ecosystem services, demonstrating how science can help build more sustainable and resilient catchments.

The Call for New Demonstration Sites 2026 is now open to expand this global network.
