One of NECDOL 's strategic objective is to strengthen its member organisations’ institutional capacity, financial sustainability and governance and this was achieved with support from The African Early Childhood Network and Global Partnership for Education through thier Education Out Loud project , through a series of capacity-building workshops and organisational strengthening initiatives. NECDOL and its member organisations have been supported to assess their institutional strengths and gaps, strengthen their governance systems, develop and review strategic frameworks, and improve their organisational effectiveness and sustainability.

The capacity-building process is aimed at enabling these organisations to critically reflect on their organisational structures, leadership, policies, programmes, financial systems and resource mobilisation approaches. It has also strengthened their ability to develop clear strategic directions and practical frameworks that guide their work and position them to respond more effectively to the needs of children and communities.
