Ha kere na What is Osmosis in biology u arabe tjena:According to (Raven et al., 2019) Osmosis is the spontaneous movement of solvent molecules, typically water, across a selectively permeable membrane from a region of lower solute concentration to a region of higher solute concentration, driven by the concentration gradient, until equilibrium is reached. This process is crucial in biological and chemical systems, particularly for regulating water movement in cells and maintaining homeostasis.

(Campbell et al., 2021) argues that osmosis is vital for cells. For example, in animal cells, water movement across the plasma membrane affects cell volume. In hypotonic solutions (lower solute concentration outside), water enters the cell, potentially causing it to swell or burst. In hypertonic solutions (higher solute concentration outside), water exits, leading to cell shrinkage. Plant cells, with rigid cell walls, use osmosis to maintain turgor pressure, essential for structural support.

(Fritzmann et al., 2007) and (Taiz & Zeiger, 2010) explore practical applications in medicine, industry, and nature. Thier studies suggest that In medical settings, intravenous fluids are designed to be isotonic to blood plasma to prevent osmotic damage to cells. In reverse osmosis, used for water purification, external pressure forces water through a membrane against the concentration gradient, removing impurities.
