last season, and the club decided to donate all the gate receipts to the Lesotho orphanage in Africa, but unfortunately, the opposition had to cancel.
This was very disappointing not only for us but for the children in the Orphanage, so to compensate, the lads held an impromptu training session and at the same time made a quick whip round towards the cause, the club also donated what would have been the refereeβs fee and also matched whatever the team had donated.
When Clogher Valley RFC heard of the situation they too made a collection during their stake BBQ night, this was a fantastic gesture and we thank them for their kind generosity.
In total the two clubs raised Β£400; a brilliant amount collected and it will go a long way in the up-keep of the Orphanage.
It just goes to show how supportive and generous the local community can be.
Our Chairman Davy McQuigg and Club Captain David Fulton presenting the cheque to June Wigham and Lorraine Hazley, who runs the Charity shop in Tandragee, with all the money going to Amyβs CrΓ¨che in support of the Orphanage.
