The Tumutu Agricultural Educational Training Center is expected to resume training programs on June 20, 2026, following renovation works aimed at restoring operations at the institution.

The reopening follows a commitment made earlier this year by Liberia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Cornelia W. Kruah, during an assessment visit to the center. At the time, the Minister pledged efforts to restore the facility and resume training opportunities for young people.

According to the center’s Director, Prince Kromah, preparations are underway to receive a new group of trainees when activities officially restart later this month.

Kromah said the institution will offer training in crop production, livestock management, agribusiness, sustainable farming techniques, general agriculture, farm machinery operations, and computer studies.

He disclosed that the center is targeting an enrollment of 200 students and has begun efforts to attract prospective trainees.

According to Kromah, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has provided 75 scholarships for students interested in enrolling, while discussions with development partners are continuing to secure additional support.

He also stated that classrooms and dormitories have been renovated and are ready for use, while work continues on other facilities ahead of the reopening date.

The director acknowledged that attracting students remains one of the immediate challenges facing the institution and called on parents, community leaders, and other stakeholders to encourage young people to take advantage of the available training opportunities.

Located in Salala District, B**g County, the Tumutu Agricultural Educational Training Center has for years provided vocational and agricultural training to young Liberians seeking practical skills in farming and related fields.

Officials say the reopening will allow the institution to resume training aimed at equipping young people with technical and vocational skills that can be applied in agriculture, agribusiness, and other productive sectors of the economy.

Student Stabbed Following Altercation Over School Dress Code at Foya Mission High School

June 10, 2026

According to information gathered by the ELBC Lower Lofa Correspondent, Emmanuel Sowah, a student was reportedly stabbed following an altercation at Foya Free Pentecostal Mission High School on Monday.

Reports indicate that the student arrived at school wearing a face cap and was seated in class when the school's Disciplinary Chairperson entered and instructed him to remove it, citing a school policy that prohibits students from wearing face caps in class. The student reportedly refused to comply.

According to Sowah, the situation escalated when the Chairperson attempted to remove the cap by force, leading to a confrontation between the two. The student allegedly ran outside, picked up stones, and attempted to stone the Chairperson.

Sowah quoted the Chairperson as saying, “I will not remain standing for this little boy to hurt me.”

In an attempt to defend himself, the Chairperson reportedly picked up a knife that is commonly used in the school office to cut sheets. During the ensuing struggle, the student was allegedly stabbed.

The student is currently seeking treatment at the Foya Boma Hospital in Foya City, Lofa County.

This incident occurred at Foya Free Pentecostal Mission High School and remains a developing story. We will continue to provide updates as more details become available.
