Sen Amara Konneh 🗣️🗣️
"This week, President Joseph Boakai submitted three major investment agreements negotiated and signed by the Executive Branch to the Liberian Senate for immediate ratification. These agreements mark significant progress in attracting strategic foreign investment and revitalizing key sectors of our economy.
The first two submission includes eight new offshore petroleum sharing contracts (PSCs) with TotalEnergies EP Liberia B.V. and Atlas Oranto Petroleum Ltd., representing Liberia’s first petroleum agreements in over a decade under the 2024 Direct Negotiation Licensing Round. TotalEnergies secured blocks LB-06, LB-11, LB-17, and LB-29, while Atlas Oranto was awarded blocks LB-15, LB-16, LB-22, and LB-24.
The third agreement, a $1.8 billion deal with Ivanhoe Atlantic (formerly HPX), signed in July 2025, covers the rehabilitation and operation of the Yekepa to Buchanan railway for iron ore exports from Guinea. Ivanhoe Atlantic will use the railway until the ArcelorMittal Liberia concession expires in 2030. That rail belongs to Liberia, not Nimba, B**g, and Bassa. According to the President’s letter, Ivanhoe has already paid $37 million in advance to the previous administration (CDC). We scrutinize the proposed $1.8 billion investment package for the benefit of the Republic of Liberia.
I strongly support both agreements, which align with President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID). These investments are vital to strengthening Liberia’s fiscal base, increasing Liberian participation, and creating meaningful employment opportunities, especially for our youth.
Although I am not part of the committees reviewing these agreements, I will actively support their efforts to ensure comprehensive legal, economic, fiscal, and policy evaluation. This includes examining the 5% equity stake given to Liberian-owned companies under the PSCs, protecting national interests, and analyzing broader economic and foreign policy impacts. Key fo

Former First Lady Clar Marie Weah Sets the Record Straight at City of Hope Graduation
Former First Lady Clar Marie Weah, CEO of the Clar Hope Foundation, has reaffirmed her commitment to serving Liberia selflessly, emphasizing that all resources supporting the foundation's work were sourced internationally.
Speaking during the first graduation ceremony of the City of Hope Academy in Marshall, Madam Weah addressed public concerns, stating:
"I am asking anyone who has issues with what we are doing here you can come over and find out from me. My heart is clean. There is not one cent of personal gain in what I do here at the Clar Hope Foundation. Even the Finance Minister knows, Senator McGill knows, and my husband knows. Every resource we used here came from international sources.
I don’t have to be born in Liberia to love Liberia. If I had listened to everything people were saying, I wouldn’t have done this. I lost my father at a young age we had no one to lean on. I wanted to give people hope. There was a lot of noise, but I closed my ears.
When we started this foundation, things were very difficult. But I cannot stop thanking George, my husband, because every trip he made, he always brought something back to help me push forward with the foundation. This led to the birth of this great initiative building this City of Hope.
I am grateful for the staff I have here.”
The ceremony was a joyful occasion, filled with emotional moments as students many of them orphans celebrated their academic milestone. There were vibrant performances, beaming smiles, and a deep sense of accomplishment as the students graduated from the first grade.
The event was graced by several high-profile guests, including former President George Weah, Senator Nathaniel McGill, Representative Musa Bility, former Maritime Commissioner Eugene Nagbe, and a representative from the Ministry of Gender, among other former officials.

CDC Youth League Strongly Reacts to Vice President Jeremiah Koung’s Statement Against Former President George Weah

The Youth League of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has strongly condemned recent remarks made by Vice President Jeremiah Koung regarding former President George Weah.
In a strongly worded statement issued during a press conference at the party's headquarters, CDC Youth League Chairman Alvin Wesseh criticized Vice President Koung’s comments, describing them as an attempt to politically undermine former President Weah ahead of the 2029 general elections.
Chairman Wesseh firmly warned Vice President Koung to focus on addressing the country’s ongoing economic challenges rather than referring to former President Weah as a “common citizen.”
Recently, Vice President Koung was seen in a live Facebook video describing former President Weah as a “common citizen,” a statement that has sparked intense debate nationwide. Wesseh argued that such remarks are not just politically inappropriate but also counterproductive to fostering a cohesive society and ensuring free and fair elections in 2029.
The CDC Youth League Chairman further suggested that Vice President Koung views Weah as a significant political threat in the upcoming elections and is therefore attempting to discredit him and his party—a strategy Wesseh insists will ultimately fail.

Honestly speaking this act of celebration only simplify that most Liberians enjoyed and I guess still want such person again in this Nation.... Because why will these older women go ahead and be doing things like this, are they even considering their children at all,are they not having any thought or feelings that their children are learning from them too.... I think with all the negatives and bad experiences Liberians had in the past I expect us to learn and be mindful of what we do now..... Even if they want to celebrate must you people do such celebration..... May God Help and open our eyes very wild in this country...
Citizens of Kpelle Village Appeal For Basic Social Services
The citizens of Kpelle village community and its surrounding areas are appealing to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, via the legislative caucus of Cape Mount County, for critical social services.
These services include toilets, schools, clinics, and hand pumps.
Former classroom teacher of Kpelle village community school, Mr. Washington Kollie, and Community Health Assistance (CHA) have raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of the road leading to the village.
Mr. Kollie has also highlighted the impact of the lack of trained teachers, leading to the collapse of the school building.
Town chief of Kpelle village community, Mr. Sam Bondo, is calling on the Ministry of Agriculture to equip farmers with essential tools for their agriculture projects.
The absence of tools such as cutlasses, hoes, and wheelbarrows has resulted in a decline in farming activities, affecting the residents' primary source of income.
Overall, the community is in urgent need of these fundamental services and seeks President Boakai's intervention to improve their living conditions.
