Women issues are paramount.

In commemoration of the World Humanitarian Day 2024, Africa-FOr-HER celebrates Feminist Humanitarian Innovators who have played diverse roles spanning across humanitarian preparedness, response, and recovery.

Despite resistance and backlashes from societal structures that are expected to protect them, these women have demonstrated a unique resilience and continued to adopt new responsibilities as needs in their communities change. Some of their most documented roles include serving as First Responders, Service Providers, Community Leaders and Advocates, as well as Resilience Builders.

On this occasion of the World Humanitarian Day, we join our voices to the and call on UN bodies, international organizations and humanitarian donors to and โ€œrecognize that local womenโ€™s expertise is fundamental to preventing and addressing global humanitarian crises โ€ฆโ€ and to โ€œensure that these women at the frontlines of crisis can participate in and use their experiences and expertise to influence โ€ฆ political decision-making and peace processesโ€.

To , international organizations should live up to their promises regarding the and therefore take advantage of The Womanitarian Project to demonstrate their commitment to zero tolerance, when it comes to meaningful participation of women in Humanitarian Coordination Mechanisms.
