We teach kids the science of growing food while using the garden as our outdoor laboratory. The Gratitude School Garden is a project that is dedicated to the growth and success of school gardens. Our goal is to start and sustain several gardens in schools around Montserrado and other parts of Liberia while connecting children and teenagers to fresh, healthy, and sustainable food production practices. In our gardens, we connect kids between ages 6 to 14 years to where their food comes from and give them the confidence and inspiration to play an active role in feeding themselves, their families, and communities. Our program is free of charge. We are focused on ensuring that our school gardens have food security, health, social, economic, and environmental benefits. At the Gratitude School gardens, we transform abandoned land around schools into gardening spaces that provide fresh fruits and vegetables for the community.
