D-WISE is a smart international school located at the Police Academy Junction, Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa. D-WISE, established in 2020, aspires to provide learners with high-quality, skill-based learning experiences, inspired by a top-notched, learner-centered curriculum, while also providing exceptional care for children in support of the fulfillment of their potentials. D-WISE is seeking for an experienced High School Principal, preferably female, to join the growing faculty for the 2023-2024 school year.
Job Description
The Principal is responsible for directing and managing instructional programs and supervision of personnel. It is expected that the Principal will provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service, oversee compliance with school policies, and ensure success of instructional programs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Leadership
Provide exemplary leadership to all school community members (administrators, teaching staff and students) to achieve outstanding performance in preparing each student for college;
Ensure that academic policies and curriculum are followed
Establish effective communications and relationships with students and parents.
Demonstrate a relentless commitment to improve the minds and skills of students in and out of school;
Exhibit a growth mindset about teaching practices and work toward professional goals and development.
Help to maintain school policies, regulations, and expectations.
Develop and maintain professional, collaborative, and collegial relationships with faculty and staff, as well as with community partners to the benefit of students and classes.
Represent the school at national and international events in the highest ethical manner.
Develop and communicate strategic school systems, culture, and vision, and design plans to achieve that vision;
Implement effective assessment systems and use data to make informed decisions;
Lead all aspects of curriculum development and assessment, and ensure consistency within the school programs and alignment with state and other rigorous standards.
Teacher Coaching & Evaluation
Conduct weekly teacher observations and provide real-time feedback to the School Board so as move the needle on student achievement;
Oversee faculty and staff, including recruitment in association with School Board, evaluates, retain, and or dismiss, and be primarily responsibility for professional development, staff observations, curriculum development, staff communication, and program decisions;
Ensure that the VPI is supervising faculty in providing well-managed and rigorous daily lessons, reasonable and effective daily homework, and regular and productive after-school tutoring;
Foster commitment among staff to the development and fulfillment of the school's mission and objectives;
Developing and tracking benchmarks for measuring institutional success and failures, and suggesting strategies for improvement.
Helping teachers maximize their teaching potentials
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and on enhancing instructional practices and strategies
Work with the VPI to hold teachers accountable for meeting a high bar for student’s performance
School Culture
Build a joyful and rigorous school culture;
Foster consistency in academic and behavioral expectations;
Collaborate with school staff to support students' academic and socio-emotional development;
Ensure that traditions and rituals that support the school's mission are built and maintained, grade by grade, year to year;
Liaise with the VPA to support staff in ensuring the smooth administration and effectiveness of after school enrichment programs.
Family Engagement
Communicate regularly with parents, ensuring they are kept involved with their children's performances, and inform parents about school’s policies, trips, and events;
Respond to parent concerns promptly and effectively
Make sure that no student is academically left behind, and making sure that students conform to the best moral and social standards
Report to School Board on all the above, the successes, failures and strategies for improvement, every three months
REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree or equivalent experience in education administration or leadership
Minimum of 3-5 years of working experience as school principal, preferably in a private high school
At least five years’ experience in teaching and development of curriculum and instructional strategies
Experience in sourcing funding for helping needed students and school development
Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
Deep dedication to quality and proficient learning, and development as an educator
Collaborative work style paired with the ability to take initiative
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
