EIRA - Eamel International Resource Academy: New roof for 1100 $

Last weekend for only 1100 $ a roof has been installed on one of the 4 potential school buildings, which were destroyed in the civil war. The money was raised by various supporters from Germany but also from donators inside the community in Paynesville, Monrovia.
With a donation YOU can easily help developing and EIRA - high school, elementary school and kindergarten educating and accomodating more than 50 children.

EIRA - Eamel International Resource Academy: New roof for 1100 $

To extend the school's capacity and protect more parts of the old school building from the heavy rains during rainy season the church community and student's parents startet a fund raising within the community in Monrovia and successfully raised 257 $ (US) to build the roofing substructure. First the money was planned to be used for building further school desks but Pastor Blojah decided to use the money on the much needed roofing to create more covered space to be able to accomodate more students in the future. With support from various donators from abroad the roofing can be properly finished with zinc sheets.

Eamel International Resource Academy (EIRA) in Monrovia, Liberia now officially owns its own plot with 4 school buildings. The main goal for 2011 will be the roofing and refurbishment of one more of the four buildings which were demolished during the civil war. Until now EIRA can use only one of them to teach around 50 students in 3 classrooms.
Thanks to your help and donations these kids can go to school.

especially for christmas - due to the desperate need to cover the costs of the extension of the school building's roof, teacher's salaries, the completion of payments for the new school plot, the implementation of agricultural mini projects for self supply of food - Pastor Blojah and our small international team are working on innovative strategies. we will let you know about opportunities to support the project asap - just let us know if you would like to get more involved!

Since the school was able to receive a new place for their school building because they were chased away from the original location (bamboo building on old pictures) by the the alleged land lord , Pastor E. Blojah with his community started to clean up their new plot with some existing building structured, which highly damaged during the civila war. One of four buildings already has a roof and freshly white painted walls - school started immediately!!

These days Pastor Blojah, members of the community and some passionate craftsmen succeeded in installing new zinc roof sheets on the bamboo school building. Before only a plain tarp covered the classroom from heavy liberian rains. As the tarp was exposed to string wheater conditions it was leaking soon and the EIRA school had to close. Unfortunately the "alleged" land lord is asking for the land where the actual building is located and we have to work on a more sustainable solution for the school.
