๐ Panel 2 Highlight | 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
Panel 2 of the Muslim Congress of Liberiaโs workshop focused on โSafeguarding Womenโs Dignity: An Islamic Approach to Ending Digital Violence,โ moderated by Dr. Mory Sumaworo.
The discussion examined digital violence through legal and Islamic perspectives, highlighting how online harassment, cybersbullying, image-based abuse, blackmail, and misinformation cause deep psychological and reputational harm to women and girls.
Dr. Sumaworo emphasized that Islam strongly upholds honor, privacy, and dignity, and that many forms of digital abuse are clearly prohibited under Islamic teachingsโmaking the fight against digital violence both a legal responsibility and a moral duty.

Event Highlight | 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
The Muslim Congress of Liberia is honored to host a high-level convening in commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, under the theme:
โUnite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls in Liberia.โ
The event featured distinguished delegates and representatives from UN Women UNFPA , the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (Republic of Liberia), the Imam Council, the Religious Council, Muslim Women Network, Schools and other prominent leaders from civil society organizations (CSOs) and private institutions including Lawyers, councillors and professors
This gathering reflects a strong multi-stakeholder commitmentโbringing together faith leaders, government institutions, UN agencies, womenโs groups, and civil society to address the growing challenge of digital violence and to promote dignity, safety, and inclusion for women and girls in Liberia.

Keynote Highlight: Understanding Digital Violence in Liberia
The Muslim Congress of Liberia hosted a powerful keynote presentation by Hon. Abdullah L. Kamara, a leading tech entrepreneur and digital literacy advocate, during our 16 Days of Activism event.
His message explored digital violence from contemporary, legal, and Islamic perspectivesโhighlighting rising issues such as cyberbullying, online misinformation, exposure culture, digital extortion, and the danger of unverified viral posts.
He emphasized that digital harm affects mental health, community peace, and national security, and he called for a unified response involving government, communities, faith leaders, and individuals.
