๐Ÿ“Œ Panel 2 Highlight | 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Panel 2 of the Muslim Congress of Liberiaโ€™s workshop focused on โ€œSafeguarding Womenโ€™s Dignity: An Islamic Approach to Ending Digital Violence,โ€ moderated by Dr. Mory Sumaworo.

The discussion examined digital violence through legal and Islamic perspectives, highlighting how online harassment, cybersbullying, image-based abuse, blackmail, and misinformation cause deep psychological and reputational harm to women and girls.

Dr. Sumaworo emphasized that Islam strongly upholds honor, privacy, and dignity, and that many forms of digital abuse are clearly prohibited under Islamic teachingsโ€”making the fight against digital violence both a legal responsibility and a moral duty.

๐Ÿค The panel called for stronger laws, public awareness, and faith-based leadership to protect women and girls in digital spaces.

Keynote Highlight: Understanding Digital Violence in Liberia

The Muslim Congress of Liberia hosted a powerful keynote presentation by Hon. Abdullah L. Kamara, a leading tech entrepreneur and digital literacy advocate, during our 16 Days of Activism event.

His message explored digital violence from contemporary, legal, and Islamic perspectivesโ€”highlighting rising issues such as cyberbullying, online misinformation, exposure culture, digital extortion, and the danger of unverified viral posts.

He emphasized that digital harm affects mental health, community peace, and national security, and he called for a unified response involving government, communities, faith leaders, and individuals.
