NEC: CSOs/Media Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Electoral Boundary Delimitation (October 1 ~ 3, 2025)
At the official invitation of the National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC), Better Future Foundation (BFF), represented by its CEO, Augustine S. Arkoi, participated in an intensive 3-Day Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Electoral Boundary Delimitation in Monrovia.
The dialogue, held with support through UNDP, from the European Union, UN Women, European Partnership for Democracy, Nederland Institute for Multiparty Democracy, Government of Sweden, among others, brought together a select group of Media & Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) elections stakeholders, including the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), Liberia Elections Observers Network (LEON, & the Elections Coordinating Committee (ECC), among others.
The dialogue, held at the Cape Hotel in Monrovia, was aimed at equipping relevant elections stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles, and key recommendations that guide electoral boundary Delimitation, rooted in democratic values, and essential to ensuring the fair political representation of all citizens.
The objective of the BRIDGE Workshop & Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue, according to BFF CEO, Rev. Arkoi, was to enhance the capacity of stakeholders in advancing a credible, inclusive, and technically sound boundary delimitation process that promotes electoral equity, strengthens public confidence, and upholds the core tenets of democratic governance.
In his intervention, Rev. Arkoi on behalf of the Better Future Foundation (BFF), emphasized that Liberia, being a post-Conflict Country with fragile peace and democracy, must employ all necessary mechanisms to ensure that electoral boundary review, and subsequent delimitation does not undermine or fragment the peaceful coexistence of local traditional populations and their cultural values and identities.
Rev. Arkoi, in his evaluation, characterized the NEC- CSOs/Media 3-day dialogue/Review on Liberia's Electoral Constituency Boundaries Delimitation, as quite educative; and revealing of the complexities and bottlenecks that are preventing the dispensation of good governance, peace and sustainable development in Liberia.
According to Rev. Arkoi, these complexities, including obsolete laws and ambiguities in the country constitution, cannot be fixed at elections eve, but requires a timely national referendum for constitutional review & amendments as the only guarantee for national security, peace and development.
