REACH Teacher Professional Development Workshop

Day 3 of the Remedial Education for Accelerated Catch-up and Holistic Foundational Literacy (REACH) Primary Teacher Professional Development Workshop — implemented by WE-CARE Foundation in partnership with CODE has successfully concluded.
Day three (3) brought teachers together for interactive learning and practical training across key areas, including English, foundational mathematics, composition, inclusive education, curriculum planning, and effective teaching strategies.

Through these sessions, teachers are gaining practical knowledge and strengthening the skills needed to make classroom learning more inclusive, engaging, and responsive to children’s needs.

Day 2 Completed | REACH Teacher Professional Development Workshop

Day 2 of the Remedial Education for Accelerated Catch-up and Holistic Foundational Literacy (REACH) Primary Teacher Professional Development Workshop — implemented by WE-CARE Foundation in partnership with CODE has successfully concluded.

Teachers engaged in practical sessions covering English, foundational mathematics, composition, inclusive education, curriculum planning, and effective teaching strategies, strengthening their capacity to create supportive and impactful learning experiences for children.

At 11 years old, Grace started school in Grade 1, years behind where she should have been.

Day One Highlights | REACH Teacher Professional Development Workshop

Equipping Teachers. Strengthening Classrooms. Transforming Learning.

Yesterday marked the successful completion of Day One of the Primary Teacher Professional Development Workshop under the REACH (Remedial Education for Accelerated Catch-Up and Holistic Foundational Literacy) initiative.

Implemented by WE-CARE Foundation in partnership with CODE, the five-day workshop is creating space for primary teachers to deepen their knowledge, exchange experiences, and strengthen practical approaches to teaching and learning.

Day One featured sessions on mid-term planning, understanding the curriculum, and adapting teaching practices, all aimed at helping teachers respond more effectively to the learning needs of their students.

Strengthening Partnerships, Listening to Girls, Advancing Quality Education

WE-CARE Foundation was pleased to welcome Kim Plewes from the Peter Gilgan Foundation for a field visit highlighting the impact of our programs.

Kim met with WE-CARE’s Executive Director, Program Manager, and GALI Supervisor before visiting GALI schools in Brewerville, including Blamasee and Kpallah Public Schools. The visit provided an opportunity to hear directly from teachers, parents, and former GALI girls about the challenges overage girls face in accessing education at the right age, as well as how GALI has supported their literacy, life skills, confidence, behavior, studies, and future aspirations.

The visit continued at Carver Christian University in Paynesville under the TLFC Project, where discussions focused on strengthening teacher preparation, gender-responsive pedagogy, the sustainability of program interventions, and the continued challenges in preparing teachers to deliver quality and inclusive education.

WE-CARE Foundation appreciates the Peter Gilgan Foundation for supporting work that helps girls overcome barriers, strengthens educators, and contributes to a brighter future for Liberia.

On September 8, WE-CARE Foundation/Book Aid International, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Grand Bassa County, celebrated International Literacy Day in Buchanan City.

The celebration brought together students, teachers, educators, and members of the public at the newly established WE-CARE Library in Buchanan.

REACH AWARENESS CLIMAX | TAKING THE MESSAGE FURTHER

From the streets to the communities, the REACH message has been carried far and wide.

Yesterday, WE-CARE Foundation climaxed the REACH awareness campaign with activities in Bomi County and Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, engaging communities around one of the most important investments we can make: a child’s education.

This campaign was not just about raising awareness. It was about starting conversations, reaching families, and reminding communities that the foundation we give children today can shape the kind of future they build tomorrow.

A child who starts learning early has a stronger opportunity to grow, discover, and thrive.

As we close this phase of the awareness campaign, the message remains:

Start early. Build strong foundations. Give every child a chance to succeed.
