FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, Caldwell, Team Success Inc.., in collaboration with the Montserrado County students' Union - MONSU and AIIST University College, successfully concluded a two-week intensive Leadership & Digital Training Program 2.0 aimed at empowering young people with practical leadership capacity, digital literacy, and personal development skills.

The successful completion of this impactful initiative marks another significant step toward equipping students and young leaders with the confidence, knowledge, and practical digital skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly complex and evolving world. Throughout the training, participants engaged in meaningful sessions centered on leadership development, teamwork, communication, innovation, digital empowerment, and responsible youth engagement.

Speaking at the occasion, Pres. Real Oliver C Jarka challenged students to make meaningful use of the knowledge and experience gained throughout the training by applying it toward impacting society and contributing positively to nation-building in Liberia. He emphasized that academic and capacity-building opportunities of this nature should be taken seriously by students, noting that such programs help prepare young people for leadership, innovation, and national transformation.

President Jarka further called on stakeholders within the education sector to increase investment and funding toward initiatives that promote student capacity building, leadership development, and skills acquisition, stressing that empowering young people through education remains key to sustainable national progress. He also encouraged students to build strong networks, value meaningful friendships, and maintain positive relationships formed through the training, highlighting that connections and collaboration often create opportunities for personal and professional growth.

As an institution representing over 300,000 students across Montserrado County, MONSU remains committed to supporting programs that build capacity, strengthen student leadership, and create opportunities for young people to grow academically, socially, and professionally. We strongly believe that investing in education, leadership, and digital empowerment is essential to shaping a generation prepared to contribute meaningfully to national development.

MONSU extends heartfelt appreciation to Team Success Inc.,( Mike Adokoh), AIIST University College, facilitators, parents, supporters, and all stakeholders whose dedication and commitment contributed immensely to the success of this program. We equally congratulate all participants who successfully completed the training and earned their certificates — your commitment to learning reflects the promise of a brighter future.

This achievement is not the end, but the beginning of greater opportunities, stronger leadership, and a more empowered generation of young people. Together, we continue raising leaders, building confidence, and empowering students with valuable skills for the future.

‎FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

‎MONSU attention has been drawn to the unfortunate incident involving the reported brutalization and strongly condemns the reported brutalization and intimidation of students who peacefully assembled to petition their lawmaker, Representative Bernard “DJ Blue” Benson of District #17, Montserrado County.

‎MONSU, serving as the mother institution of all student unions and associations across the seventeen electoral districts of Montserrado County, strongly condemns the brutalization and intimidation carried out against its auxiliary body/chapter in District #17 while peacefully seeking to petition their lawmaker.

‎As an institution established to protect, represent, and advocate for the welfare and democratic rights of students, MONSU views this act carried out by supporters and individuals associated with the office of Representative DJ Blue as deeply unfortunate, unacceptable, and contrary to the democratic values enshrined in the Constitution of Liberia, which guarantees citizens the right to peacefully assemble and petition their leaders without fear, violence, harassment, intimidation or
‎ physical attacks.
‎Students are not enemies of the state but rather, they are citizens with voices, concerns, and constitutional rights. Any attempt to silence them through violence, threats, or physical attacks undermines democracy and discourages civic participation among young people.

‎We are particularly troubled that students who sought peaceful engagement with their elected representative were met with hostility instead of dialogue. Let it be clear that leaders are elected to serve the people, listen to grievances, and engage constructively with constituents, not to permit or encourage acts that threaten public safety and human dignity.

‎MONSU therefore calls on:
‎1. The Liberia National Police ( LNP) to launch a swift, impartial, and transparent investigation into the incident and ensure that anyone responsible is held accountable under the law.

‎2. Representative Bernard “DJ Blue” Benson to publicly condemn all forms of violence carried out in his name or by his supporters and commit himself to peaceful engagement with students and citizens.

‎3. Civil society organizations, student groups, and community leaders to stand against political violence and defend the constitutional rights of students and young people across Liberia.

‎MONSU remains committed to defending the rights, dignity, and safety of students across the 17 electoral districts of Montserrado County and Liberia as a whole. We call on all students and citizens to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and united in promoting democracy and justice.
‎Violence against students for exercising their democratic rights must never be tolerated.
