Many of you follow Light Academy Model School, Liberia, the school Tailey and Agnes founded for some of Liberia's poorest children and orphans. And now this beautiful campus also hosts the NEW Faith University College/MKS Technical School! With programs ranging from Nursing to Catering and Soap Science, this institution of higher learning is strengthening Liberia, one student at a time.

What brought you joy in 2020, despite the challenges?
Tailey Garley, Pastor and Founder of Light Academy Model School, Liberia: "I was so grateful to God, especially when I reflect on how we provided food for kids in the community whose parents became disabled because of the (government) shutdown. I am really grateful."
What did you learn about yourself through the challenges of 2020?
Tailey Garley, Pastor, Founder of Light Academy Model School, Liberia and RYHF Partner: "This pandemic came with so much 'new things". As I reflect how I conducted a wedding during the pandemic with my face mask and sanitizer, I could just say 'Wow, God is great'."

Shelley Spurlock, RYHF President: "I look back on this year with such gratitude that I was able to spend time with the RYHF Family in Liberia before the world 'shut down'.
This is one of my favorite photos taken at Light Academy Model School, Liberia with our treasured RYHF leadership team, my daughter Sam and son-in-law Nick, and our special friends/Light Academy partners. We all need a "go to" pick-me-up reflection during these challenging days of COVID-19 and these smiles are definitely mine!"

Light Academy Model school was established to educate and care for Liberia's abandoned children, those living in extreme poverty conditions and orphans.
Light Academy Model School operates in Liberia, a country in West Africa purchased by the American Colonization society in the early 1800s for the resettlement of freed slaves. I entered the classes unknowingly to the students today and I was too impressed. Every student of Light Academy is allowed to choose a technical course as an option.
The students are very excited about this new programs, we have added to their studies. They now leave campus at 5PM on Wednesday and Friday and leave campus 3PM on other days.

Light Academy beats her opponents in the quizzing tournament yesterday. The CEO, Rev. Tailey Garley gave cash gift to each of the students and promised to do more when they emerged as the final winner. The students were so excited.

February 2019 Update: We celebrate God's incredible blessings over Light Academy Model School (LAMS) as we enter Phase 3 of construction of a NEW and safe school building for our boys and girls! We extend our deepest gratitude to the many generous donors who have given sacrificially to make this dream a reality. More updates will follow!
