Du'ā Tip for Ramaḍān

The month of Ramaḍān is nearly upon us now, and it is the month when all good deeds are increased. We are told to increase our du'ā's as well, before we break our fast, and during the late parts of the night, and especially on the last ten nights.

Here is a beautiful ḥadīth that we can all use to help increase the power of our du'ā.

Anas said that once his mother Umm Sulaym came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Teach me phrases that I can make du'ā using."
So the Prophet ﷺ answered, "Say 'Subḥān Allah' ten times, and 'Alḥamdulilah' ten times, and 'Allahu Akbar' ten times, and then ask Allah whatever you need. If you do this, Allah will respond: 'I have granted your request, I have granted your request.'" [Reported by al-Tirmidhī and declared authentic by Ibn Ḥajr and Albānī].

This can be done at any time, but of course to combine various blessings into one (meaning: best time of du'ā, right intentions, best methods, etc.) only adds to the du'ā's efficacy. Hence, during this Ramaḍān, increase the use of this simple and effective tactic: in a state of wuḍū, facing the qiblah, before breaking the fast (or late at night), in a penitent state, with full conviction that Allah hears your du'ā and will answer it, praise Allah in this manner with ten of each of these dhikrs, and then ask Allah with an optimistic yet humble heart, and ask the good of this world and the good of the next, then conclude your du'ās with the salawāt upon the Prophet ﷺ.

May Allah accept our fasts and good deeds, and answer our du'ās, during this blessed upcoming month!

" رَبَّنَا ظَلَمۡنَاۤ اَنۡفُسَنَا وَاِنۡ لَّمۡ تَغۡفِرۡ لَـنَا وَتَرۡحَمۡنَا لَـنَكُوۡنَنَّ مِنَ الۡخٰسِرِيۡنَ‏ "

1. There will be taraweeh and late night prayers at mosques during the last ten nights of Ramadan.

4. No more than 25% of regular worshippers will be allowed in the mosque at a time.
5. Mosque authorities will print tickets to be given to those entering the mosque in keeping with the 25% policy.

7. Temperature of people should be checked where possible before they are allowed to enter the mosque.
8. Everyone should pray only in the community where they live. No one will be allowed to leave their community during curfew hours.
9. Eid prayers will be performed at 8:00 a.m. on the day of the Eid in community mosques. There will be no large assemblies at usual prayer grounds.
10. All prayers, including taraweeh, late night prayers (Qiyamul-lail), Jumu'ah and Eid prayers, should be very short. Imams should take note.
11. A special task force should be set up in every mosque to ensure that these regulations are adhered to.

May Allah forgive our faults, guide our steps and protect us from the Coronavirus and other diseases. May Allah accept our worship and bless us all with the best of Dunya and Akhira.

Invocations for breaking the fast

" ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ، وَابْتَلَّتِ العُرُوْقُ، وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّٰهُ "

"Thahabadh-dhama'u wabtallatil-'urooqu, wa thabatal-'ajru 'inshaa'Allaah."

Meaning: "The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills."
