AMEZU NEW ACADEMIC HUB IN
NIMBA (NORTHERN CENTRAL LIBERIA)

Right now in Ganta, something powerful is happening, quietly, but consistently.

Our students population at the AME Zion University Nimba Campus Extension(NCE) which includes Business personalities, Security personel, Bankers recent High School Graduates, Petty Traders, Motor circlists, Commercial Drivers etc are showing up every day, learning, engaging, and staying focused, even while operating from a modest space in Peace Avenue. No perfect conditions, no excuses, no regret, just commitment.

This is what expanding access to education in rural Liberia really looks like. It’s not always polished, but it’s real, and it matters.

As we envisioned the construction of our New Campus in Central Ganta within the shortest possible time, these students remain the reason we push forward. They are not waiting for the future, they are preparing for it now.

AME Zion University Nimba Campus Extension (NCE): A NEW ACADEMIC FRONTIER RISING IN GANTA

In the Heart of Ganta, a quiet *transformation* is taking shape, one that signals the future of Higher Education in Northern Liberia.

Since its establishment in 2024,the NCE which is housed in the Daytollon Institute, Peace Avenue, Ganta; the Nimba Campus Extension of AME Zion University has rapidly grown into a vibrant academic hub, already serving over 300 students with a shared vision of excellence, access, and opportunity.

Today, that vision is expanding.

The newly acquired property in Central Ganta represents more than land, it is the foundation of a modern academic environment designed to meet the growing demand for quality education beyond Monrovia. Ganta itself stands as a strategic educational and commercial center in northern Liberia, connecting communities and fostering regional development.

What currently stands as early structures and groundwork will soon evolve into lecture halls, administrative facilities, multipurpose hall and a dynamic campus space where innovation, leadership, and scholarship will thrive.
This expansion is not accidental, it is intentional. It reflects AME Zion University’s long-standing Mission of providing accessible, transformative education since its establishment by legislative act in 1987.

The Nimba Campus Extension is, therefore, not just growing, it is positioning itself as a cornerstone for educational advancement in the Region.

With strong support from the Board of Trustees, the University's 5th President, Rev. Emmanuel F Johnson I PhD rallied the support of Mr. Nya Taylor Guanue as well as some committed Graduates of Zion and Sons of Nimba, the foundation of the NCE was planted on a solid foundation with a birth meeting held at the Ivino Hotel. From this humble beginning in 2024 to a rapidly expanding campus in Ganta, one thing is clear:
the future of AME Zion University in Nimba is not coming, it is already being built.

AME ZION CHURCH GLOBAL MISSIONS MEDICAL OUTREACH 2026 ENDS ON A SUCCESSFUL NOTE

What started as a simple outreach became something much bigger, a moment of care, connection, relief and real impact.

Over four days at the PO River Main Campus, AME Zion University, alongside the AME Zion Church (LAC) and its Global Missions partners from the United States, brought together medical professionals both local and International who showed up not just to work, but to serve.

Students, church members, and community residents came in numbers. Some came for check-ups, others for treatment, but many left with something deeper: relief, hope, and a sense that their health truly matters.

The presence of both international and Liberian doctors and nurses created a strong, coordinated system of care. It wasn’t perfect, but it was effective, organized, and meaningful.

One of the most touching parts of the outreach was the distribution of medical supplies to the John F. K .Memorial Center in Monrovia , the Wellness Partners & Partners Clinic in Congo Town, the Faith Clinic on Hotel Africa Road, and St .Michael's Health Care and Revival Center,Vincent Town PO as well as support packages. For many beneficiaries, that wasn’t just a giveaway, it was timely support they genuinely needed. Also, a few students with follow up issues were sent to the Jamali Clinic ,New Kru Town branch.follow up medical bills will be paid by the Global Missions Medical Team.

Moments like these remind us that impact is not always loud. Sometimes, it’s in the quiet conversations, the attention given, and the lives touched in ways we may never fully see.

As the outreach comes to an end, one thing is clear: this was not just an event—it was service in action.

Alongside the medical clinic was a three days Ministerial and Leadership Institute held for the Leaders of the AMEZC,LAC. Key topics included Overview of the Bible,Part I & II of the AMEZC Articles of Religion, the Torah, the Books of Proverbs, the Pauline Epistles, the General Epistles, the Gospels, the Books of Psalms and the Bishop's Hour. The institute facilitator facilitator was the AMEZC, Director of Church Growth and Development,Eleazar Merriweather. Presentations were made by: Rev Dr Dwight B Cannon, Rev. Milton A. AME Zion University continues to show that education is not only about lectures and classrooms, but also about service to humanity.

Recently, the University carried out a meaningful outreach to the Koimene Impact Foundation Rehabilitation Center in Brewerville. The visit was led by the University President, Dr. Emmanuel F. Johnson I, along with members of the university community/ Counseling Team.

During the visit, the team spent time interacting with inmates at the center, creating awareness and offering words of encouragement and counseling. The engagements focused on hope, personal growth, and the importance of choosing a better path moving forward.

As part of the outreach, the university also presented donations of rice, drinking water, and a cash contribution to support the center’s efforts in feeding and caring for the inmates.

The visit was not just about giving items; it was about showing that people going through rehabilitation are not forgotten and as part of the psychological outreach. Through this outreach, AME Zion University reaffirmed its belief that everyone deserves support, guidance, and a second chance to rebuild their lives.

The University remains committed to engaging communities and supporting initiatives that promote transformation, dignity, and positive change in society.

Today, February 26,2026 marked an important step for Liberia’s Health Sector, and AME Zion University was present at the table.

Our President, Rev. Emmanuel F. Johnson,I PhD who is also a Board member of JFKMC attended the official launch of the 2025–2029 Strategic Plan of the John F. Kennedy Medical Center. The gathering brought together Board Members,Leaders, Health Partners & Professionals, and Stakeholders who share one goal, strengthening the backbone of our National Referral Hospital.

The new plan sets clear priorities: stronger leadership, a motivated health workforce, better service delivery, reliable medicines and equipment, improved infrastructure, expanded medical education and research, digital health systems, and financial stability. These are not just policy statements. They speak directly to the everyday realities patients and health workers face.

Dr. Johnson’s attendance also reflects AME Zion University’s belief that universities must sit where national decisions are being shaped. We cannot train professionals in isolation and expect the system to fix itself. Education and healthcare must move together.

AME Zion University continues to support the country’s health programs, through its Extension Campuses in Margibi & Nimba Counties By expanding nursing & public health education beyond Monrovia, we are helping to close gaps and create opportunities for the youthful population in these counties to serve their own communities.

The launch was not just an event. It was a reminder that progress requires partnership. When institutions align their efforts, real change becomes possible.

AME Zion University remains committed to playing its part, preparing competent professionals, supporting national reforms, and standing with institutions that are working to improve the lives of Liberians.

The 29th Session of the Monrovia District Conference (LAC, AMEZC) convened at Bridge Way AME Zion Church, B**g Mines Bridge, Bushrod Island, from Friday, February 20 to Sunday, February 22, 2026.

For three days, clergy and delegates gathered in worship, reflection, and structured deliberation under the theme: “Don’t Worry, Your Doors Are Opened.”

Day One | Opening Worship

The conference opened with a solemn and uplifting worship service. Host Pastor, Rev. Isaac G. Hodge, delivered a timely exhortation on “The Strength of Taking Over Opened Doors.” He reminded the congregation that strength is both physical and spiritual, urging believers to cultivate both as they step into new responsibilities and opportunities.

The Lord’s Supper was administered by the Presiding Elder, Rev. Emmanuel F. Johnson I, PhD—who also serves as President of AME Zion University—signifying unity and spiritual renewal. The first day concluded with the commencement of the Business Session.

Day Two | Devotion, Deliberation & The Presiding Elder’s Address

Saturday’s session commenced with the devotion and continued the business proceedings, followed by the Presiding Elder’s Address.

Drawing from passages including Joshua 6, Exodus 14, 2 Kings 4, 1 Samuel 17, John 5, and John 11, Rev. Johnson delivered a message anchored in faith and forward movement. He emphasized that throughout Scripture, barriers fell, seas parted, giants were defeated, the sick were restored, and hope was revived.

His central message was clear:

God is concerned about the struggles of His people.

God is caring and present in moments of uncertainty.

God is committed to completing what He begins.

When God opens a door, fear must not keep us from stepping through it.

The address called for confidence, obedience, and boldness in the face of challenge.

Day Three | Memorial & Divine Worship

Sunday began with Sunday School and a Memorial Service honoring departed members of the District.

During Divine Worship, Guest Preacher Rev. Christian C. Keller, Missionary Supervisor , Administrative Assistant to the Bishop,CME Church,LAC & Presiding Elder,Margibi District CME Church preached from the conference theme, highlighting three essential truths:

1. The greatest obstacles to open doors are often internal—worry and negative perception.

2. God assures His presence in the middle of every process; He does not begin what He cannot complete.

3. Doors opened by God are opportunities for those who walk in obedience—and the same door that grants access can silence opposition.

The District also adopted resolutions centered on five key focus areas for continued growth and administration.

A notable highlight was the first-ever January–June and July–December Queen Contest (J to J and J to D). Representing J to D, Rev. Beatrice C. Washington emerged victorious, raising LRD 13,490.00 plus USD 141. Representing J to J, F***y Hodge raised LRD 7,060.00 plus USD 80.

As the Conference concluded, the message resonated beyond the gathering: when preparation meets faith, doors open. The responsibility then rests on us to walk through them with courage and discipline.

AME Zion University remains proud of its leadership’s continued service to the Church and Community.
