The Professional Educators Association of Liberia (PEAL) is proud to honor Dr. Benjamin Yele Wehye as Educator of the Month – April 2026 in recognition of his exemplary leadership, professionalism, and transformative contributions to teacher education and national education reform in Liberia.
Dr. Wehye is a visionary education leader, policy analyst, and reform advocate whose impact continues to shape Liberia’s educational landscape. As President of LICOSESS College of Education, he has spearheaded institutional transformation, strengthened teacher preparation, advanced curriculum reform, and elevated the institution into a recognized degree-granting college committed to quality and relevance in education.
In April 2026, under his leadership, LICOSESS graduated over 1,200 teachers and educators with various credentials in education, including C-Certificates, Associate Degrees, and Bachelor’s Degrees—with the majority being females. This historic achievement is considered one of the largest graduations of trained educators by a private teacher education institution in Liberia’s history.
Widely respected for his passion for educational excellence, Dr. Wehye has consistently championed access, quality, professionalism, and innovation within Liberia’s education sector. His leadership and scholarship have contributed significantly to national conversations on educational policy reform, teacher development, and institutional resilience.
A recipient of the prestigious USAID-Liberia Development Award for Best Teacher in Liberia (2023–2025), Dr. Wehye also serves on several influential national and regional education platforms, including:

Licosess College of Education Weekend Retreat Recap & Celebrations
Over the weekend, LICOSESS College of Education hosted its annual retreat in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County. The gathering brought together:
County Coordinators from 7 counties
Site Coordinators from 18 annexes
Business Managers from all annexes
During the two-day retreat, more than 50 senior administrators participated on Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3, 2026.
Outcomes from the retreat include:
A harmonized activities calendar aligned with college goals and regional needs
Updated curricula framework with input from department chairpersons, site and county coordinators
A unified financial harmonization plan to improve transparency and efficiency
Implementation of standardized accountability and reporting protocols across all sites
Following the retreat, on Saturday, April 4, LICOSESS College of Education celebrated the 7th C Certificate Convocation for the Buchanan Site, with 31 teacher aspirants graduating.
The keynote address was delivered by Gabriel Y. Montgomery, Deputy Commissioner for Technical Services at the Liberia Revenue Authority, and Deputy Commissioner General for Technical Affairs.
A special note of thanks to the United Bassa Organizations in the Americas (UNIBOA) for their generous support, enabling tuition and fees assistance for over 15 teacher aspirants throughout their year at the college. UNIBOA will be officially recognized on April 25, 2026, during the College Montserrado Campuses graduation at the SKD Sports Complex, where more than 1,500 teacher aspirants will be awarded the C Certificate, Associate of Arts Degree, and Bachelor Degrees.
We invite and look forward to continued collaboration with other County Associations to build the capacities of teachers across regions.

" Lifetime Education Transformation Award"
I’m honored to be the 2026 recipient of the Lifetime Education Transformation Award, and grateful to have had the privilege of presenting a similar award to the Hon. Dr. Jarso M. Jallah, Minister of Education, at the 2026 Liberia National Education Symposium.

Administration Announcement
The Administration of LICOSESS College of Education wishes to inform and remind all prospective graduates in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program that a mandatory workshop will be held to review and engage with the instructional materials recently endorsed by the College in collaboration with Blue Spring Publications.
This workshop will focus on the following educational resources developed by Sophie T. Parwon and Emmanuel N. Atem, which support foundational learning in early childhood education:
Spring Steps in Drawing/Coloring (Nursery, KG1, KG2)
Spring Steps in Language Arts (Nursery, KG1, KG2)
Spring Steps in Mathematics (Nursery, KG1, KG2)
These materials are designed to strengthen teaching practice in drawing and creativity, language development, and foundational mathematics for early learners. As future educators, prospective graduates are expected to be familiar with these resources and understand how they support effective classroom instruction.
