On the Passing of Former Liberian First Lady, Madam Nancy Bohn Doe

May 23, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and feeling of great loss that I receive the sad news of the passing of the late Madam Nancy Bohn Doe, former First Lady of the Republic of Liberia.

On behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, and in my own name, I express heartfelt sympathy to the Doe Family during this time of mourning.

The late former First Lady served our nation with grace and dignity during a pivotal time in our history. As First Lady, she carried the responsibilities of her position with strength, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and country.

While serving as a cabinet minister in the Government of her late husband, our late former Head of State, I had the privilege of observing her
life to be one of resilience, marked by both the drive for national service and personal sacrifice.

While history may record the complexities and tumult of that era, we as a nation must rise in acknowledgment of the honorable and courageous path our fallen compatriot, former First Lady Doe, whose life was interwoven with our nation’s often times intriguing journey, served her country and people.

Madam Doe’s legacy will remain etched in our national memory as part of Liberia’s broader historical narrative.

I therefore enjoin the nation to pray that the Almighty will grant her eternal rest and comfort her loved ones with peace and strength in this period of loss.

May her soul rest in perfect peace.

𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐚, 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 – 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟏5, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) reminds the public 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, involving the interconnected transmission network between OMVG and TRANSCO CLSG. These efforts are part of a coordinated initiative to enhance power reliability across the West African Power Pool corridor.

As part of this broader effort, and in continuation of scheduled preventive actions, CIE, Operator of the 𝐂𝐋𝐒𝐆 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞, 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟔 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟕:𝟎𝟎 𝐀𝐌 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟓:𝟎𝟎 𝐏𝐌 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲. This work is critical for ensuring grid stability and readiness ahead of the upcoming rainy season, which typically places additional strain on transmission and distribution infrastructure.

As such, intermittent electricity disruptions may continue to affect parts of Monrovia and surrounding areas during this period.
