History will remember you for the different roles you played in shaping the institution and for your heroic roles played during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic in which the UL-MPHSV was launched. This initiative brought pride to the faculty and the School in totality. UL Reopens Monday, June 27
The University of Liberia (UL) is set to resume all academic activities this Monday, June 27, 2022 as planned, following a fruitful meeting facilitated by the Liberia Council of Churches between the Administration and Faculty.
The mediation meeting was held on UL Capitol Hill campus on Saturday, June 25, 2022, and had in attendance the Board of Trustees represented by the Chairman and a member, and some members of the University Cabinet.
Following the meeting, President Julius Julukon Sarwolo Nelson, Jr., wrote Dr. Edna Johnny, President of the University of Liberia Faculty Association (ULFA), thanking her leadership for the continuous sacrifices aimed at ensuring that UL students are prepared for the task ahead as future leaders.
The mediation meeting reached several vital decisions regarding the reopening of the school and the general progress of the University.
It was agreed that all employees on UL payroll that were affected by the double dipping situation will return to status quo ante, pending a judicial review of the stipulation in the Code of Conduct.
Secondly, a technical team will meet on Thursday, June 30, 2022 to do an inner review of the Social Security process prior to an external meeting with other stakeholders including the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP).
It was also agreed in the meeting on Saturday that classes will resume on Monday and the ULFA will have a General Assembly on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 to inform their members on the outcome of the decisions reached in the meeting.
Additionally, it was agreed that information dissemination will improve between the UL Administration and ULFA. A technical team will meet in two weeks to review the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that was signed among the Government of Liberia, ULFA and UL Administration.
In the wake of this latest development, the Administration of the University of Liberia has called on all faculty members, students, administrative and support staff to prepare for the reopening of school this Monday, June 27.

KEY FACTS ABOUT MONKEYPOX
Vaccines used during the smallpox eradication programme also provided protection against monkeypox. Newer vaccines have been developed of which one has been approved for prevention of monkeypox.
Monkeypox is caused by monkeypox virus, a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus in the family Poxviridae.
Monkeypox is usually a self-limited disease with the symptoms lasting from 2 to 4 weeks. Severe cases can occur. In recent times, the case fatality ratio has been around 3โ6%.
Monkeypox is transmitted to humans through close contact with an infected person or animal, or with material contaminated with the virus.
Monkeypox virus is transmitted from one person to another by close contact with lesions, body fluids, respiratory droplets and contaminated materials such as bedding.
Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease that occurs primarily in tropical rainforest areas of central and west Africa and is occasionally exported to other regions.
An antiviral agent developed for the treatment of smallpox has also been licensed for the treatment of monkeypox.
The clinical presentation of monkeypox resembles that of smallpox, a related orthopoxvirus infection which was declared eradicated worldwide in 1980.
Monkeypox is less contagious than smallpox and causes less severe illness.
Monkeypox typically presents clinically with fever, rash and swollen lymph nodes and may lead to a range of medical complications.
