Flag Day in Liberia is a day set aside to commemorate and celebrate the adoption of the national flag dated on August 24, 1847.
The flag of Liberia was designed and hand-made by a committee of seven women and was chaired by Susannah Elizabeth Lewis. Other members of the committee were Matilda Newport, Rachel Johnson, Mary Hunter, Mrs. J. B. Russwurm, Colonette Teage Ellis, and Sara Draper. All of the women were born in the United States, and many of them were wives of prominent men in Liberia.
The flag they designed was adopted on August 24, 1847 about a month after Liberia had declared independence on 26 July 1847.
The day the flag was adopted, the nation held a celebration in Monrovia. There, the flag was unfurled to the public for the first time, and Susannah Lewis gave a patriotic speech. The ceremony also featured speeches by a number of notable Liberian politicians and religious leaders, as well as entertainment in the form of band music.
On 24 October 1915, President Daniel Edward Howard signed into law an act which proclaimed 24 August as Flag Day, a national holiday.
Symbolic indications:
The Liberian flag was designed with symbols which illustrate morality. The flag has eleven (11) stripes and represent the eleven men who signed the Declaration of Independence.
The lone Star represents Unity, the blue that encloses the star represents the dark continent of Africa. The white represents purity and the red represents the blood that was share on the battle field.
In resemblance, our Liberian flag ressembles the flag of the United States of America.
Happy Flag Day to all Liberian.

The District 17 Students' Union says congratulations to all of our students who made a successful pass in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination - WASSCE.
To those of you who did not make it, you are urged to believe in yourselves and do not be discouraged, you are smart, let not WAEC results determine your future because the future is way too brighter than WAEC's results.
And to you WAEC, thank you for administering your test and failing schools that refused to comply with your illegal financial policy.

A message to all youths:
As we commemorate this day, let us all sit and contemplate on what change can we make in our society.
How can our society count on us as agent of change and transformation?
We must note that until we (the youths) stand in the gap for the improvement of our world, we are yet to experience CHANGE positively.
International Youth Day is a day set aside for you to discuss trending national and international issues and finding solutions to problems for the common benefit of all.
Now, the question here is; What are your contributions in the upliftment and growth of your society as a youth?
Happy International Youth Day!!
You may not understand the reason why you are the way you are because you have not understood the personality that I in you.
Only for the wise!
