BUILDING OPPORTUNITY IN BORLORLA: SUSTAINABLE SOAP-MAKING FOR SCHOOL SUPPORT
Following a recent community meeting in Borlorla Town, attended by citizens from surrounding areas who benefit from the Teacher Jeanette No Child Left Behind program, a significant step was taken to support the local school.
As part of our empowerment strategy, the Liberia Literary Society made a startup empowerment grant of US$100 to the people of the Community. This seed support is intended to launch a local iron soap production and sales initiative, a sustainable project that will serve as a source of income for the community's effort towards the school.
The goal is simple yet powerful: to use the proceeds from this venture to provide ongoing support to the school in Borlorla. Over time, we hope the growing profits and future reinvestments will not only benefit the school but also extend economic support to parents and residents of the town.
This is more than just soap making. It is community led development in action.
As an institution, the Liberia Literary Society remains fully committed to ensuring that all children living in orphanages and rural communities with no access to school can meet the basic needs of quality primary education. Our work in Borlorla reflects that mission in motion.
We encourage donors, partners, and institutions who share our vision to join us in supporting this initiative. Together, we can strengthen community livelihoods and expand access to education for children who need it most.

Today, we honor and celebrate the amazing mothers who have touched our lives with their love, kindness, and hard work—the women who have always been there for us through thick and thin. Mothers of Borlorla Town worked side-by-side with the fathers in helping to establish a school for the first time in Borlorla Town, B**g County. ESTABLISHING A SCHOOL IN BORLORLA TOWN, B**G COUNTY, LIBERIA
In the early months of the first half of 2023, we embarked on a mission to extend and establish our educational program in Borlorla Town, a rural settlement in B**g County – Liberia.
Borlorla is a little town in Sanoyea District with over hundred children between ages, 3 and 14 years from both the town and nearby villages. Due to the lack of School, majority of the children grow up uneducated. If there’s no opportunity for a better life, majority of the children are likely to end up as subsistent farmers, hunters or gardeners just as it is in many rural settlements with little or no opportunity to education. The nearest school is about 25 to 30 minutes’ walk away making it difficult and unsafe for children of such age group to travel on.
With our intervention in establishing the TEACHER JEANETTE NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND educational program in this Town, there is a vivid relief from the educational challenge faced by the people of Borlorla and surrounding towns and villages as we work earnestly towards fulfilling our Goal to ‘Help All Children Living In Orphanages And Other Rural Communities With No Access To School, Meet The Basic Needs Of Quality Primary Education In Liberia'.
As we work together with the people of Borlorla Town and surrounding villages to construct a modern Elementary School by this year, we look forward to your support and collaboration to help us reach the apex of this achievement.
Below are photos from our first engagement with a handful of the citizens of Borlorla Town in May, 2023.
