LMTI ADMISSION INFORMATION
Liberia Maritime Training Institute is located at the scenic campus of Marshall City in Margibi County, adjacent to the Junk, Farmington and Du rivers and the Atlantic Ocean. It aims to become a world class learning community of excellence with the stated vision to lift and return the Liberian Maritime Heritage to its rightful position, while enhancing the capacity and quality of Liberia’s future workforce.
Liberia Maritime Training Institute (LMTI) invites applications for admission to its Associate of Science in Marine Engineering program (A.Sc.MarEng) offered by the Institute.
The A.Sc.Mar Eng program at LMTI is a 2-year (4 semesters) full time on-campus residential course with modern learning facilities. The institute will cover the full cost of training, nutrition and accommodation for the selected candidates. On successful completion of the course, the students have the options of pursuing a career either at sea or ashore or continue higher education in other Universities.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission
To ensure a fair and transparent admission process, all candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
A. The candidate (male/female) must be a Liberian citizen and age between 18 and 26 years old as on August 17, 2026.
B. The candidate must be a science student and must have scored a minimum of 80% in Physics, chemistry, Mathematics, and English on the high school transcript.
C. Candidate must have passed the West African Examinations Council (WAEC)/West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) with a minimum of five subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, and English.
D. Candidates must be physically and medically fit, with good eyesight and color vision.
Selection Process
A. All interested candidates must successfully verify all original documents, including police clearance.
B. All candidates are required to undertake the LMTI Aptitude Test (50 marks – 1 hour), which assesses cognitive abilities and reasoning skills. Successful candidates will advance to the next stage of the admission process.
C. Successful aptitude test candidates must then pass the LMTI administered entrance examination in mathematics, physics, and English (100 marks – 2 hours). A minimum score of 60% is required in each subject for required to proceed to the next phase of the recruitment process.
D. Candidates meeting the entrance examination criteria will then be required to undergo the LMTI administered oral exam, which is conducted as an interview. The interview aims to assess candidates’ communication skills and comprehension.
E. Successful candidates from B,C & D above will undergo physical and medical fitness tests, including an eyesight test (20/20 vision) and a color vision test. Declarations of any ailments must be communicated by the candidates to the LMTI nurse prior to the commencement of the medical tests.

Option # 5: For those who cannot apply online by our LMTI Website or online Google Form or who have very limited internet access, please collect the admission application form from various test centers (**Note 02 below). Please fill up the Application form by hand and drop it along with all required documents (mentioned in *Note 01 below) into LMTI Application Boxes kept at authorized test centers (See **Note 2 below).
*Note 01: Attach scan copies (online application) and photocopies (manual application) of following documents along with application form:
A. High School Diploma certificate and transcript.
B. WAEC/WASSCE certificate.
C. Birth certificate and National ID mandatory, Passport (optional). Information of birth certificate and national ID must match to be eligible for admission.
D. Recent passport size photo (2 copies for manual application).
E. Police Clearance Certificate (can be submitted on the day of the oral exam).
IMPORTANT: Bring your original photo ID proof when arriving at any of the Test centers.
