The National Muslim Council of Liberia announces the passing of Dr. Abass Kanneh, Grand M***i of the Republic of Liberia.

He passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The news was confirmed by his son, Dr. Salleh A. Kanneh- Head of the Body of Imaams, National Muslim Council of Liberia. Contact: 0886599154 for more information.

The Council extends condolences to his family and the entire Muslim Ummah of Liberia, and prays that Allah accepts his good deeds, forgives him, and grants him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah also grant his loved ones patience and strength
