Call for Applications: Chinese Government Scholarship Program for Liberian Nationals (2025 Academic Year)
The Government of Liberia, in partnership with the Government of the People's Republic of China, is pleased to announce the availability of scholarships for eligible Liberian nationals.
This initiative provides an exceptional opportunity for qualified individuals to pursue graduate and post-graduate studies in a wide range of fields at leading Chinese universities.
The scholarships are available for both Master's and PhD programs, with a duration ranging from two (2) to five (5) years, starting in 2025. This partnership aims to enhance the skills of Liberians by providing access to world-class education and training in China.
Eligible Fields of Study:
The available scholarships are for the following academic disciplines:
Engineering: Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, Mining, Geotechnical, Architectural, Civil, and Railroad Engineering
Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Geo-Information Production and Management, Land Resource Management, Survey and Geodesy
Agriculture: Agriculture Management, Agricultural Science
Public Health
Computer Science / Programming
Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics
Education: Education Planning, Development Studies
Social Sciences: Public Policy, Economics, Finance, Banking, Project Management, Procurement, Supply Chain Management
Transport Engineering: Highway Engineering, Transport Engineering
Natural Sciences: Geology, Geography
Other Fields: Financial Management, Geology, Development Studies, and related areas.
Note: Priority will be given to applicants in the sciences.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Nationality: Must be a Liberian citizen.
Educational Qualifications:
For Master’s Degree: A bachelor’s degree holder, under the age of 35.
For PhD Degree: A Master’s degree holder, under the age of 40.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) for both undergraduate and graduate qualifications.
Computer Literacy: Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required.
Application Restrictions: Only applicants with prior academic qualifications (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) are eligible. Undergraduate applicants need not apply.
Application Process:
Interested applicants must complete the online application process through the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) Online Application System. To begin the application:
Visit the official application portal: www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org
Select “Application Online for International Students,” complete the required information, and submit the application form.
Print three (3) hard copies of the completed application form.
Applicants are also required to forward the following documents to the Division of Scholarships in three (3) sets for consideration:
Curriculum Vitae (CV) with contact details (email address and phone number).
Notarized Copies of university degrees and transcripts in English.
Printed Application Form for the Chinese Government Scholarship in English.
Proof of Liberian Citizenship: Copies of passport and birth certificate.
Two Letters of Recommendation: One academic and one professional.
Statement of Purpose: A one-page document outlining the reasons for choosing graduate studies in China and how this opportunity will benefit Liberia.
Study Plan/Research Proposal:
For Master’s Candidates:
A minimum 800-word study plan.
For PhD Candidates: A detailed research proposal.
Six Passport-sized Photos with a white background.
Foreigner Physical Examination Form:
This form, signed and stamped by a licensed medical facility, must be obtained from the official website www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org.
Importan Notes:
The deadline for submission of applications and supporting documents is Friday, February 7, 2025, at 4:00 PM.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview and written exam.
Applicants must ensure that all submitted documents are authentic.
Any falsified documents will result in disqualification and legal action.
Failure to follow the systematic vetting process established by the Ministry of Education will result in the disqualification of the applicant from the program.
