This month 5th-grade students have been busy working in the aquaponics garden learning all about drip irrigation. Yesterday they received a surprise gift of plants from Mrs. Beverly Thompson. Mrs. Thompson is one of the sponsors of our SDG action project. The students focused on irrigation. Now, they are taking a plant home to nurture.
We climaxed Womenโs History Month with the unveiling of our newest mural and garden in honor of trailblazing Liberian women. Thanks to our honorary trailblazer Madame Gbowee for gracing the occasion. We pray that the mural serves as a daily reminder to HILA girls that their voices matter.
The central bank was amazing!! The students learned all about the function of the bank! They worked with money counters to count old money and saw firsthand how new money is shipped to Liberia. They went into the vault where they had to sign in (everybody wanted to use their neatest handwriting, which took forever! ๐๐). They met with the top officials and got real hands-on experience. Oh, and they ate pizza until their bellies popped!! Thanks to the Central Bank team, who made our experience extremely special, fun, and filled with knowledge. You are absolutely astounding!!!โจโจโจโจ
The undefeated Trailblazers are back! Whoโs ready for the next game?? ๐๐

Thanks, , for your visit today. We have been studying about women trailblazers for womenโs history month, so we are incredibly honored that we got to host one of Liberiaโs own trailblazers.
Thank you for all you do!
Service to others is a key leadership trait of a Trailblazer. Today we want to spotlight Alva A., who exemplifies this daily by serving his community, church, and school. Well done, Alva!
Grade 2 students enjoyed a day of learning outside of the classroom at the United Commodities Inc. (UCI) factory in Freeport, where they learned about making soap and flour.
They also stopped by the Pizza Bar for a delicious lunch! ๐๐

Today our Pre-K class got to explore the post office! They helped sort packages, visited the customs department, and learned how packages from overseas reach Liberia.
It was a full day of curiosity and questions.
Thanks to the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications for having us!
The third graders organized a poetry night (day) and it was a great time.
Everyone recited the poems they wrote, there was music, food, and dancing. It was a great experience and we are looking forward to the next one.
As we continue learning outside the classroom this month, Grade 1 visited Sharks Ice Cream Factory in the industrial park.
They learned how ice cream was made AND tested some new flavors.
We want to thank Madame Eyvonne Bright (Liberiaโs own Trailblazer) and her team for hosting us.
We always look forward to our annual preschool field trip to the fire station. We always have so much fun!
Thank you to the Liberia National Fire Service for hosting our K3 class!
It was an extra sweet day at HILA! The third-grade class baked the most delicious cupcakes EVER! We also shared gifts and chocolates with our loved ones.
Finally, the Kindergarten class won hearts with the first Valentine's Day Cupcakes Garden party!
Happy โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ Day!!
Thank you to all of our service men and women for all you do. Happy Armed Forces Day!
We truly have some of the most supportive parents in Liberia! Cllr. Yeakula stopped by to share knowledge with our students about the laws of Liberia and the Supreme Court functions.
The Kindergarten class visited the Barclay Training Center as the special guest of Major Gen. Prince Johnson III, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia.
As we approach Armed Forces Day, what better way to learn about the armed forces than getting hands-on experience?
What a great day!
Today was career day for our older students, and we were so excited to see all the different career choices. We were especially excited to see the overwhelming turnout of aspiring doctors and nurses.
Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to come and speak to our Trailblazers today. We appreciate you.
He's kind, humble, and a great role model for our Trailblazers! Thank you, Major General Prince C. Johnson III, for taking the time out of your busy day to read to our students.
Of course, thanks to Principal Morris for cooking the delicious green eggs for all to enjoy.
Community Helpers Day was a huge success!
The HILA Model African Union class had the pleasure of hosting Amb. Sarah Fyneah, Liberian Ambassador to the UN and Former Charge' d'Affaires of the Liberian Embassy to Ethiopia and the African Union.
We had an engaging conversation on diplomacy and the work of the AU. Itโs always exciting to have Trailblazers come and inspire us with their expertise and knowledge.
Today the HILA PTA voted in new leadership! A big congratulations to the newly elected leaders
President - Tawae D. Akinsanya
Vice President - Benjamin O. Solanke
Treasurer- Emmanuel Tieh Delamy
Secretary - Mrs. Wede-Joy Johnson
Congrats to our new leaders, and thank you to the outgoing administration for all your hard work and dedication to our students.
To our new leaders, go and serve well!
Trailblazers in the making!
The Preschoolers are taking their P.E class very seriously. ๐ The HILA Mini Olympics is right around the corner ๐ช๐ฝ๐ช๐ฝ
Itโs book report time!!! ๐ We love seeing our Trailblazers using their free time to get a head start.
During our weekly assembly, our 5th graders reminded us on the importance of trusting God and not allowing fear to rule our lives. Watch the video to hear this powerful message.
Beautifully spoken Zuri!
What better way to start the day than a good olโ story time? ๐
Trailblazer report!
Over the Christmas break, trailblazer Gizelle C. and her sister distributed backpacks to children at the Sis Iye Orphanage in Brewerville as a part of her โBack Pack for a smileโ campaign.
Gigi moved away last year but still remembered the children in Liberia who were less fortunate and needed support, and she wanted to do something to help. These two young ladies were able to garner donations of over 250 backpacks in just one donation drive.
The children of Sis Iye Orphanage were so appreciative to receive such a generous donation, and we are incredibly proud of Gizelle and her sister.
Once a Trailblazer, always a trailblazer!
Hello, 2023!! ๐ฅณ๐ฅณ๐ฅณ
We are looking forward to another great year of trailblazing, and we are excited to bring you on that journey with us.
Happy New Year to our HILA Family. Letโs make 2023 one for the books!
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.โ Isaiah 9:6
Merry Christmas from the Trailblazer Family.
Last week we closed out the year with our annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. It was a beautiful evening indeed. ๐
Our theme week climaxed with our annual Christmas party for the children in Sophie Community.
Through the funds our trailblazers raised, they spread holiday cheers with over 400 children, who all received toys and goodie bags.
Giving back to the community is a character trait our trailblazers exemplify daily, and we couldnโt be more proud.

HILA Grandparents are the best! We thoroughly enjoyed our annual Grandparents Day breakfast during our theme week. It was a morning filled with joy and laughter and the perfect way to kick off the holiday season.
A seed, through patience, increases in value and becomes a tree; but this is almost impossible without the right environment. In the same way, young people are like seeds who will blossom into great adults and people of influence tomorrow if they are nurtured in the right environment. Heritage International Leadership Academy was founded based on this ideal.
Students who attend Heritage International receive a well rounded education that not only provides high quality instruction but also experiences that teach them how to work with others, how to be productive and upstanding citizens and how to be active contributors to the society around them.
Our goal is to break the glass ceiling of education in Liberia. We aim to be pacesetters and redefine what is possible by setting the bar high. We will do this by providing opportunities for our young professionals to develop an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and use the lessons learned for greater good.
We seek to raise our students to be God-fearing leaders, self-advocates, and astute citizens. We will achieve this goal by working in partnership with parents, placing an emphasis on life skill character development, and maintaining an overall commitment to the long-term development of our students.
