Commencement of the Sunday School Academic Year – 2026

The Sunday School academic year 2026 commenced on 11 January 2026, following the Holy Mass. After the Mass, a morning assembly was held, during which Rev. Fr. Michael Pulianmackal, Don Bosco, General Councillor for the South Asia Region, addressed the students, encouraging them as they begin a new year of faith and learning.

Rev. Fr. Michael also shared his thoughts and blessings in the Visitors’ Book of the Sunday School.

May this year be blessed with faith, joy, and growth for all our students!

Pastoral Visit to Wellapalliya Parish

Rev. Fr. Michael, Regional Councillor for the South Asia Region of the Salesians of Don Bosco, graciously visited Wellapalliya Parish on 10 January 2026 as part of his pastoral mission. He was warmly welcomed by Rev. Fr. Anton Tharaka Fernando, Parish Priest and Principal of the Sunday School, together with the catechists and representatives of the Parish Council.

The occasion was further blessed by a joyful and reverent welcome offered by the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Sunday School Western Band, reflecting the faith, unity, and gratitude of our parish community.

May the Lord abundantly bless Rev. Fr. Michael’s ministry, and may this pastoral visit strengthen our parish in faith and loving service.

“Mane Nobiscum Domine” – 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘜𝘴, 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 (Luke 24:29)

To commence the Sunday School year 2026, a Eucharistic Adoration was organised by the Sunday School teachers on 04 January 2026, under the above theme.

The Adoration and blessing were presided over by Rev. Fr. Anton Tharaka Fernando, Principal, invoking God’s abiding presence and divine guidance for the year ahead. This spiritually enriching moment provided a sacred foundation for our mission of faith formation.

Following the Adoration, the first teachers’ meeting of the year was held. During this meeting, class teachers were appointed, along with teachers-in-charge responsible for the various functional areas of the Sunday School. In addition, the annual plan for 2026 was shared and discussed, with a collective commitment towards the holistic development and continuous improvement of the Sunday School.

May the Lord remain with us throughout the year, strengthening our mission and nurturing the hearts of our children, through the prayerful intercession of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

දහම් පාසල් ආරම්භයට පෙර සූදානම

දහම් පාසල ආරම්භ කිරීමට පෙර පංති කාමර පිරිසිදු කර ගැනීම, ආධුනික ශිෂ්‍ය නායකයන් කිහිප දෙනෙකුගේ සහ පූජා සහයක දරුවන්ගේ දායකත්වයෙන් 2026 ජනවාරි මස 3 වැනි දින සිදු කරන ලදී.

මෙම කටයුත්ත සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම සදහා දායක වූ දරුවන්ට දේවාශිර්වාදය බහුලව ලැබෙන ලෙස අපි යාච්ඤා කරමු.

වාර්ෂික ත්‍යාග ප්‍රදානෝත්සවය 2025

රටේ පැවති ආපදා තත්ත්වය අනුව, මෙවර කාර්මෙල් දේවමාතා දහම් පාසලේ වාර්ෂික ත්‍යාග ප්‍රදානෝත්සවය ඉතා චාම් සහ ගෞරවාන්විත ලෙස වැල්ලපල්ලිය මීසම් සේවක සහ දහම් පාසලේ විදුහල්පති ගරු ඇන්ටන් තාරක ප්‍රනාන්දු පියතුමාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන්, 2025 දෙසැම්බර් 21 වැනි ඉරුදින දී පවත්වන ලදී.

මෙහිදී, දහම් පාසල් සහභාගිත්වය, අවසාන වාර පරීක්‍ෂණයේ දැක්වූ දක්ෂතා සහ චිත්‍ර හා රචනා තරඟවලින් ලද ජයග්‍රහණ වෙනුවෙන් දරුවන් වෙත ත්‍යාග සහ සහතික පත්‍ර පිරිනමන ලදී.

Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony 2025

In view of the unprecedented situation that prevailed in the country, the Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Sunday School was held in a very simple and dignified manner. The event was conducted under the patronage of the Parish Priest of Wellapalliya and Principal of the Sunday School, Rev. Fr. Anton Tharaka Fernando, on Sunday, 21st December 2025.

On this occasion, prizes and certificates were awarded to children in recognition of their attendance at Sunday School, their achievements in the final term examinations, and their successes in art and essay competitions.

Encouraging Young Hearts in Faith

With the intention of nurturing a love for the Holy Mass from a young age, gifts were awarded to our children who faithfully attended the Saturday 7.00 AM Children’s Mass. This initiative aims to inspire consistency, discipline, and spiritual growth among our students.

This appreciation reminded that even simple gestures can plant deep and lasting seeds of faith in young hearts.
