💽 Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
What is HDD?
A Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is a storage device in a computer used to store data permanently, even when the computer is turned OFF.
It is one of the oldest and most common storage devices.
⚙️ How HDD Works
HDD uses spinning magnetic disks (platters)
A read/write head moves over the disk to read or store data
Data is stored magnetically
📁 What HDD Stores
✔ Operating System (Windows, Linux)
✔ Software applications
✔ Files and documents
✔ Photos, videos, music
HDD Advantages & Disadvantages
👍 Advantages:
Large storage capacity 💾
Cheap price 💰
Good for storing big files
👎 Disadvantages:
Slow speed ⏳
Moving parts (can break easily)
Noisy operation
More power usage
HDD vs SSD (Quick Idea)
HDD = Slow but cheap
SSD = Fast but expensive

🎮 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)
What is GPU?
A GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is a special computer component that is responsible for processing and displaying images, videos, animations, and graphics on the screen.
It helps the computer show smooth visuals and fast graphics performance.
🧠 How GPU Works (Simple Flow)
👉 CPU sends graphics instructions
⬇
👉 GPU processes graphics data
⬇
👉 RAM provides temporary data
⬇
👉 Monitor displays final image/video

🖥️ Computer Boot Process
What is Boot Process?
The boot process is the steps a computer follows when it is turned ON until it is ready to use (Windows desktop appears).
🔄 Steps of Boot Process
1️⃣ Power ON
When you press the power button, electricity flows into the system.
2️⃣ BIOS / UEFI Activation
BIOS (Basic Input Output System) or UEFI starts first.
It checks all hardware is working properly.
3️⃣ POST (Power-On Self Test)
System checks:
RAM
CPU
Keyboard
Storage devices
If error → beep sound or error message
4️⃣ Boot Device Selection
BIOS finds the bootable device:
HDD / SSD
USB (if inserted)
5️⃣ Operating System Loading
OS files (Windows / Linux) are loaded from storage into RAM.
6️⃣ Kernel Starts
Kernel is the core part of OS.
It controls hardware and system operations.
7️⃣ Login Screen / Desktop Ready
User login screen appears
Finally desktop is ready to use
🔄 Simple Boot Flow

💾 SSD vs HDD (Storage Devices Comparison)
What is HDD (Hard Disk Drive)?
HDD is an older storage device that uses moving mechanical parts (spinning disk + read/write head) to store data.
⚙️ Features:
Uses spinning magnetic disks
Slower performance
More storage for lower cost
Produces more noise and heat
More chance of damage (because of moving parts)
What is SSD (Solid State Drive)?
SSD is a modern storage device that uses flash memory (no moving parts) to store data.
⚙️ Features:
No moving parts
Very fast performance
Faster booting and loading
Silent operation
More durable and shock-resistant
Higher cost

🖥️ Motherboard Architecture – Major Components & System Flow
📌 What is a Motherboard?
A motherboard is the main circuit board of a computer. It connects all hardware components and allows them to communicate with each other.
⚙️ Major Components of Motherboard
1️⃣ CPU (Central Processing Unit)
Brain of the computer 🧠
Performs all calculations and processing
2️⃣ RAM (Random Access Memory)
Temporary memory
Stores data while programs are running
3️⃣ ROM (Read Only Memory)
Stores BIOS instructions
Helps start the computer (boot process)
4️⃣ Chipset
Controls communication between CPU, RAM, and other devices
5️⃣ Storage Connectors (HDD / SSD)
Stores operating system, software, and files permanently
6️⃣ Expansion Slots (PCI Slots)
Used for adding extra cards (Graphics card, Sound card, etc.)
7️⃣ Power Supply Connector
Supplies power to motherboard and components
8️⃣ Input/Output Ports (I/O Ports)
USB, Audio, LAN, HDMI ports for external devices
