The Ceylon College of Physicians successfully conducted the Pre-Congress Workshop on Medical Leadership on16th September 2026 at the ClinMARC, National Hospital of Sri Lanka, bringing together physicians, postgraduate trainees, and medical officers for an engaging programme focused on developing effective leadership in healthcare.

The workshop explored key aspects of medical leadership, including leading through external challenges, reflective leadership and self-awareness, achieving work-life balance, leading people, and psychological safety within healthcare teams.
The sessions were conducted by an experienced faculty, including Professor Mumtaz Patel, Dr Emma Vaux, Dr Preetham Boddana, Dr Duminda Munidasa, and Professor Arosha Dissanayake, providing participants with valuable insights and practical perspectives on leadership in medicine.

Through plenaries, scenario-based group work, discussions, and feedback, the workshop encouraged participants to reflect on their leadership roles and strengthen their skills to navigate challenges within healthcare.
A valuable learning experience that brought together knowledge, reflection, and practical leadership skills in preparation for the future of healthcare.

The Ceylon College of Physicians successfully conducted the ๐๐ซ๐ž-๐‚๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฉ ๐จ๐ง ๐‹๐ข๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฒ๐ฅ๐ž & ๐Œ๐ž๐ญ๐š๐›๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ on 14th September 2026 at the PGIM Academic Centre, bringing together physicians, trainees, and healthcare professionals for an engaging programme focused on the evolving role of lifestyle and metabolic health in clinical practice.
The workshop explored a wide range of contemporary topics, including calorie and lifestyle strategies for the prevention and management of obesity, exercise in medicine, nutrition for healthy ageing, sarcopenia and osteoporosis, healthy ageing and functional decline, the gut and metabolism connection, personalised therapy in Type 2 diabetes, and personalised nutrition for diabetes prevention.
The sessions also highlighted practical approaches to lifestyle interventions, dietary strategies, exercise, metabolic health, and personalised care, emphasising the importance of integrating evidence-based lifestyle and nutritional interventions into everyday medical practice.
With an experienced faculty and interactive discussions, the workshop provided participants with an opportunity to explore current concepts, exchange perspectives, and gain practical insights into improving metabolic health and preventing lifestyle-related disease.
The programme was a valuable learning experience, strengthening the knowledge and clinical approach of healthcare professionals towards person-centred lifestyle medicine, metabolic health, and preventive care.

The Ceylon College of Physicians officially inaugurated its ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ—๐ญ๐ก ๐€๐ง๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐€๐œ๐š๐๐ž๐ฆ๐ข๐œ ๐’๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ on 16th September 2026 at the ๐’๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ซ๐ข-๐‹๐š ๐‚๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฆ๐›๐จ, marking the beginning of a landmark gathering of the medical community.

The inauguration brought together distinguished physicians, academics, researchers, trainees, and healthcare professionals to celebrate 59 years of academic excellence and the Collegeโ€™s enduring commitment to advancing medical knowledge and healthcare in Sri Lanka.

The evening provided an opportunity to reflect on the Collegeโ€™s journey, honour its longstanding contribution to medical education and professional development, and look towards the future of medicine with a shared commitment to excellence and person-centred care.

The masterclass covered the research journey from laboratory-based research and clinical trials to securing research grants and undertaking systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Important considerations in research ethics were also explored, together with practical guidance on writing up research for publication.
