With great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear friend, Chef Martinesz.

His remains will lie at Jayaratne Funeral Parlour, Borella, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday (30th) and from 8:00 AM to 08:00 PM on the 31st of May

On the 1st of June, the funeral proceedings will continue at his residence at 49/1, Udawalpola, Kurunegala. His remains will open for visitors from 12:00am midnight on Sunday until 3:30 PM on Sunday, after which the remains will be taken for burial at the General Cemetery, Kurunegala.

We invite all friends, family, and well-wishers to join us in honoring and celebrating the life of a remarkable soul who brought warmth and joy to many.

May he rest in peace.

𝘼 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙛 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙯

Don’t be sad—at least not for too long. Life handed me a feast of incredible moments, and I hope, in some small way, I gave a few back.

I didn’t write this to say goodbye. I wrote it to say thank you for the laughter, the lessons, the love, and even the late nights filled with challenges and imperfect dishes. Each of you, in your own way, stirred something meaningful into the recipe of my life.

Please, don’t waste your precious time on regrets. Use your days well. Be kind. Forgive freely. Travel often. Love with everything you have. Take the photo. Speak your truth. Laugh—loudly and often. And when life feels heavy, go outside. Feel the warmth of the sun. Look up at the sky. Know that I once stood under that same sky, smiling, and thinking how lucky I was to share this world with you.

In the end, we’re all just stories. I hope mine made you feel something. I hope it fed your soul.
