The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Peradeniya, successfully held the Annual Faculty Research Symposium and Awards (AFReSA 2025) ceremony on 9th June 2026 at the Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS) under the theme:

“Innovation, Evidence, and Health Systems Strengthening for Enhancing Care.”

AFReSA 2025 provided a vibrant platform to showcase the Faculty’s research achievements and its commitment to advancing healthcare through innovation and evidence-based practice. The symposium featured 20 oral presentations, including undergraduate and postgraduate research studies spanning a wide range of disciplines within Allied Health Sciences. The undergraduate presentations represented the three highest-scoring research projects representing each degree programme, highlighting the quality of undergraduate research and academic mentorship within the Faculty.

The programme was further enriched by an inspiring keynote address delivered by Prof. Nuwan Darshana Wickramasinghe, Faculty of Medicine, Rajarata University. The event also celebrated the outstanding research achievements of academic staff through the presentation of Faculty Research Awards for the years 2024 and 2025, including the inaugural Best Researcher Award.

AFReSA 2025 reflects the Faculty’s continuing commitment to fostering a strong research culture, encouraging innovation, and generating evidence that contributes to improving the health of the community and healthcare.

𝗔𝗟𝗕𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗖𝗼. 𝗟𝘁𝗱, 𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗟𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘆𝗮

The official handing-over ceremony of 200 pre-owned laptop computers generously donated by ALBION Co. Ltd, Japan, was held on 3rd June 2026 at the Office of the Vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya.

The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Terrence Madhujith, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Deans of all Faculties, the Registrar, the Bursar, and the Director of the IT Center. Also present were Mr. Shogo Suzuki, Chief Manager of the Material Research Group, Material Development Laboratories, ALBION CO., LTD., and Mr. Ishikawa Naohito, Founder of the Non-Profit Organization, the Action for Peace, Capability, and Sustainability (APCAS), based in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Shogo Suzuki ceremonially handed over the laptops to the Vice Chancellor, symbolizing the official acceptance of the donation. In recognition of their invaluable contributions, the Vice Chancellor presented tokens of appreciation to Mr. Suzuki and Mr. Ishikawa.

This donation extends ALBION’s longstanding support to the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, led by Prof. Chalinda Beneragama. Prof. Sarath Kodithuwakku of the same faculty played a key role in facilitating the import and customs clearance of the laptops.

The University extends its sincere gratitude to ALBION Co. Ltd for this generous contribution towards enhancing digital learning and research infrastructure at the University of Peradeniya.

(Outreach and New Initiatives) of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. Prof. Sharma
was accompanied by Prof. Devika M. De Costa, Faculty of Agriculture, University of
Peradeniya.
