The Faculty of Science of the University of Peradeniya has established the Science-Industry-Interaction Cell (SIIC) to strengthen academic-industry relationships. Science Industry Interaction Cell (SIIC), Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya is organizing an "Industry Day” in an attempt to open a common platform for representatives from public/private sector industries to meet with final year undergraduate students seeking internship and employment opportunities in the fields of Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Mathematics, Management, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology.

The University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and Shandong Drug and Food Vocational College, China, have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) on 23 September 2026, marking an important step towards strengthening academic and institutional collaboration between the two institutions.

The LoI was signed by Prof. Terrence Madhujith, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, and Assoc. Prof. Dai Xiaoxia, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Shandong Drug and Food Vocational College, China.

The LoI provides a framework for cooperation in areas including:

▪️Academic, cultural, and language exchange
▪️Short-term student and academic staff exchanges
▪️Joint research projects in areas of mutual interest
▪️Joint research publications and academic reports
▪️Sharing innovative teaching methods and course design
▪️Joint symposia, workshops, and conferences
