🌍 Strengthening global partnerships!

The University of Peradeniya hosted a China–Sri Lanka Academic Exchange meeting with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the International Water Association (IWA) to discuss future collaboration and the progress of the UOP–JRDC.

The discussion focused on advancing joint research in water and environmental sciences, expanding international cooperation, and positioning JRDC as a regional hub for research and innovation.

A delegation from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) met with the Vice-
Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya on 5th March 2026 at 12.00 p.m. at the Vice-
Chancellor’s Office to discuss potential collaboration in supporting the University’s post-disaster
recovery efforts.

University of Peradeniya Hosts Sri Lanka’s First CAPSLE 🇱🇰🎓

The University of Peradeniya hosted the inaugural Colloquium in Academic Preparation for Sri Lankan Educators (CAPSLE) from 10–14 January 2026 at the Faculty of Engineering.
Organized with the United States–Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission and supported by international partners, the programme brought together academics from 9 Sri Lankan universities to strengthen skills in teaching, research, publication, collaboration, and research funding.
CAPSLE 2026 marked an important milestone in advancing academic leadership and capacity building in Sri Lanka.

Federation University Australia – New Colombo Plan Programme in Sri Lanka 🇦🇺🌿

Students from Federation University Australia arrived in Sri Lanka on 6 January 2026 for the DFAT New Colombo Plan Study Abroad Programme in Tropical Biodiversity at the University of Peradeniya.
The programme combines academic learning, fieldwork, and cultural immersion, including forest restoration activities and a visit to Horton Plains National Park. The delegation also donated laptops to support the University’s recovery efforts after recent flooding, strengthening the ongoing partnership between the two institutions.

Strengthening Academic Ties with China 🇨🇳
On 5th December 2025, a delegation from Linyi University, China, visited the University of Peradeniya. Discussions focused on exploring student and staff exchanges, joint research, and capacity-building initiatives. Both universities expressed their commitment to deepening collaboration and building a strong, long-term partnership.

Visit from Shanghai Municipal Statistics Bureau 🇨🇳
On 6th November 2025, a delegation from the Shanghai Municipal Statistics Bureau visited the University of Peradeniya’s International Relations Office. Discussions focused on fostering academic and research collaborations in statistics, data analysis, and interdisciplinary studies, including student internships and exchanges. Both parties expressed strong commitment to long-term cooperation.

Strengthening Ties with Canada 🇨🇦
On 29th October 2025, Her Excellency Isabelle Martin, High Commissioner of Canada to Sri Lanka, visited the University of Peradeniya. The meeting, with University leadership and the International Relations Office, focused on enhancing academic and research collaborations, including AI, technology, and renewable energy. The visit reaffirmed the commitment to expanding partnerships and opportunities between the University and Canadian institutions.

📢 University of Peradeniya and IIT Roorkee Discuss Future Collaboration

The University of Peradeniya welcomed a delegation from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee on 30 September 2025 to discuss opportunities for academic and research collaboration.
The meeting explored potential cooperation in engineering, student and staff exchange programmes, and joint postgraduate programmes, strengthening academic ties between the two institutions.

📢 Meeting with the Ambassador of Indonesia

H.E. Dewi Gustina Tobing met with the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya on 19 September 2025 to discuss opportunities for academic collaboration between the University and Indonesian institutions.
The discussion focused on potential student and staff exchange programmes, joint research, and future institutional partnerships, marking a positive step toward strengthening academic ties between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
