Ohisama Montessori & Daycare Center

Ohisama Montessori & Daycare Center Newly started in January 2020. Japanese-style Montessori and Daycare Center, with Japan - Sri Lanka collaboration. We accept children aged 6 months to 5 years.

We provide after - school day care for children who are schooling, up to grade 3. The first branch of Ohisama was recently started in Maberiya junction, Digana and now open for new admissions. It is situated in a very quiet place with full of nature which positively affects all the areas of child development.

Sleepover Day at Ohisama ✨🌙 - Part 2

After a wonderful evening filled with fun, laughter and excitement, our UKG children enjoyed a little fireworks time before getting ready for bed.

And then came one of the most special moments of the night — bedtime without their parents. To our delight, the children settled down happily and slept peacefully throughout the night, surrounded by their teachers and friends. It was wonderful to see how confidently they managed being away from home and how much they enjoyed the experience together.

The next morning started with another lovely experience. After waking up, the children enjoyed their bed tea, got ready for the day, took a refreshing wash and then sat down together for breakfast.

And the sweetest part of all? ❤️

When their parents arrived to take them home, some of our little ones simply refused to leave! 😂🥰 They were having such a wonderful time that they wanted to stay longer at Ohisama with their friends and teachers.

These are the moments that make all the effort worthwhile — seeing children grow in confidence, become more independent and create beautiful memories without even realizing that they are learning so much along the way.

Sleepover Day at Ohisama! ✨🌙 ( Part 1)

One of the most exciting and memorable experiences for our UKG children at Ohisama is our annual Sleepover Day!

This year too, all our UKG children spent a special night at Ohisama together with the Ohisama staff. It is much more than simply spending a night away from home. Every year, we organize this experience with the aim of developing important qualities such as independence, confidence, cooperation, responsibility, problem-solving skills and friendship—all through real-life experiences and lots of fun.

Our evening began with the children and teachers working together to prepare our dinner. From helping with the preparations to enjoying the meal they helped create, every little task became a valuable learning experience.

Before dinner, we had a wonderful time outdoors with the children. There was plenty of laughter, excitement, and happy moments as they enjoyed being together in the peaceful Ohisama surroundings.

* Learning Life Skills Through Grocery Shopping *

Every year, before our UKG Sleepover, we take our children grocery shopping to buy the items needed for their special evening at Ohisama.

What may look like a simple shopping trip is actually a wonderful hands-on learning experience for our little ones. They learn how to identify and choose the items they need, check quantities, get items weighed, understand prices, and make payments.

These simple experiences help children develop important basic life skills, independence, decision-making, responsibility, and confidence—skills that will be valuable throughout their lives.

At Ohisama, we believe that children learn best when they are given opportunities to experience things by themselves. Learning for life goes beyond books and classrooms.

🌸 Ohisama Kids’ Fair – Learning, Creating & Giving! 🌸

What a wonderful and meaningful day we had at the Ohisama Kids’ Fair! ❤️

This fair was not simply about selling things—it was about learning by doing. Our children enthusiastically took part in creating a variety of beautiful and useful items to be displayed and sold at the fair. Through this hands-on experience, they had the opportunity to explore their creativity, imagination, problem-solving skills, and out-of-the-box thinking, while getting a very first glimpse into what it means to be a little entrepreneur.

The wonderful support from our parents made the event even more special. Parents actively participated, appreciated the children's efforts, and purchased the items lovingly made by their own little ones. Seeing the children's excitement and pride when their creations found a buyer was truly priceless! 🥰

And of course, it wouldn't be an Ohisama event without some fun! 🎶🎤 We added a musical element to the fair, and our parents happily joined in by singing some of their favourite songs. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, music, happiness, and togetherness, making it a truly fun-filled family event. 💃🎵

But beyond all the fun and learning, there was a much deeper purpose behind our fair. ❤️

The most important part is that the proceeds from the fair will be used to provide necessary items for the children of a nearby school. In this way, our little ones are learning one of the most valuable lessons of all—that what we create can bring happiness and help to someone else.

At Ohisama, we believe that education goes far beyond books and classrooms. We want our children to grow into individuals who are creative, confident, independent, compassionate, and willing to share with others.

A big thank you to all our wonderful children, parents, and teachers for making the Ohisama Kids’ Fair such a memorable and meaningful event. 🌸

Our little ones had so much fun turning a simple cardboard box into their very own vehicle! 🚌🚙✨

This hands-on activity encouraged them to use their creativity, imagination, problem-solving skills and fine motor skills while working with an everyday material.
