::: Vesak Celebrations 2026 – St. John’s Girls’ School, Panadura
In celebration of the sacred Vesak season, the entire St. John’s Girls’ School family came together in a spirit of compassion, generosity, and unity on 27th May 2026.
Organized by the "Buddhist Society" under the guidance of Mrs. Sagarika Jayawardhana along with the other staff members, the Vesak programme included a number of meaningful religious and community service activities, including:
- Dry ration donations (Āmisa Pūjā) distributed to 100 families in need
- A spiritually enriching "Bana Programme"
- A devotional "Sadaham Bhathi Gee" Programme
These activities reflected the true teachings of the Buddha by promoting kindness, generosity, and harmony within the community.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents who generously contributed dry food items for the donation programme. Your unwavering support and kindness made this initiative a success. Without your valuable contributions, this noble effort would not have been possible.
A special milestone was also achieved this year. For the first time in the history of our school, all digital promotional materials, photo editing, and event photography were handled entirely by the "Sudaara Media Unit ( Editorial Board 2026)". Their creativity, dedication, and professionalism contributed significantly to the success and documentation of this memorable event.
As one united family, students, parents, teachers, non-academic staff, and well-wishers worked together to make this Vesak celebration truly meaningful and memorable.
May the blessings of the Triple Gem bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to all.
