ශ්රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ සමාජවිද්යා අධ්යයන අංශය හා යාපනය විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ සමාජවිද්යා අධ්යයන අංශය එක්ව සංවිධානය කළ සමාජවිද්යාව පිළිබඳ ශාස්ත්රපති උපාධි පාඨමාලාවේ 8 වන කණ්ඩායමේ සිසුන් විසින් සිදු කරන ලද ක්ෂේත්ර පර්යේෂණ වැඩසටහන 2026 ජූනි 5, 6 සහ 7 යන දිනවල යාපනය දිස්ත්රික්කයේදී සාර්ථකව පැවැත්විණි.
"ග්රාමීය ප්රජා සංවර්ධනය සඳහා සමාජ ප්රාග්ධන සාධකයක් ලෙස දෙමළ කුල පද්ධතිය භාවිතා කිරීමේ හැකියාව පිළිබඳ සමාජවිද්යාත්මක අධ්යයනයක් (යාපනය දිස්ත්රික්කයේ තෝරාගත් ගම්මානයක් ඇසුරින්)" යන මාතෘකාව යටතේ සිදුකළ මෙම පර්යේෂණය මඟින් උතුරු ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ග්රාමීය ප්රජාවන් තුළ පවතින සමාජ ව්යුහයන්, සමාජ ප්රාග්ධනය සහ ප්රජා සංවර්ධනය අතර සම්බන්ධතා සමාජවිද්යාත්මක දෘෂ්ටිකෝණයකින් විමර්ශනය කරන ලදී.
මෙම පර්යේෂණ වැඩසටහනේදී සිසුන් සමඟ එක්ව කටයුතු කිරීමට ලැබීම විශේෂ සතුටක් හා ගෞරවයක් විය.
පර්යේෂණ කටයුතු අතරතුර සමාජවිද්යාව පිළිබඳ ශාස්ත්රපති උපාධි පාඨමාලාවේ (8 වන කණ්ඩායම) සිසුන්ට ක්ෂේත්ර නිරීක්ෂණ, දත්ත රැස්කිරීම, ප්රජා සම්බන්ධතා ගොඩනැගීම සහ සමාජ විශ්ලේෂණය පිළිබඳ ප්රායෝගික අත්දැකීම් ලබා ගැනීමට අවස්ථාව උදා විය.
අධ්යයන දැනුම ප්රායෝගික ක්ෂේත්රය සමඟ සම්බන්ධ කරමින් සමාජය පිළිබඳ ගැඹුරු අවබෝධයක් ගොඩනැගීමට මෙවැනි පර්යේෂණ අත්දැකීම් මහඟු දායකත්වයක් සපයයි.
මෙම වැඩසටහන සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම සඳහා කැපවීමෙන් දායක වූ සියලුම ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලයට, සිසුන්ට සහ ප්රජා සාමාජිකයින්ට හෘදයාංගම ස්තූතිය පුද කරමි.
It was a great privilege and pleasure to work alongside the students of the 8th Batch of the Master of Arts in Sociology Degree Programme during the field research programme jointly organized by the Department of Sociology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and the Department of Sociology, University of Jaffna. The field study was successfully conducted in the Jaffna District from 5th to 7th June 2026.
The research, titled “A Sociological Study on the Possibility of Using the Tamil Caste Hierarchy as a Social Capital Factor for Rural Community Development (Based on a Selected Village in the Jaffna District)”, explored the relationship between social structures, social capital, and community development within rural communities in Northern Sri Lanka from a sociological perspective.
Throughout the research programme, students of the Master of Arts in Sociology Degree Programme (8th Batch) gained valuable hands-on experience in field observation, data collection, community engagement, and sociological analysis. The study provided an excellent opportunity to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical field experience while developing a deeper understanding of social realities and community dynamics.
Such field-based learning experiences make a significant contribution to strengthening students’ research competencies and enhancing their understanding of society through direct engagement with communities.
