The Residential Skill Development Workshop for the MBA/MSc Programme (April 2025 Intake) was successfully held on 24th and 25th April 2026 at Citrus Hikkaduwa with the participation of around 96 students. The programme combined academic and experiential learning activities to strengthen research orientation and managerial competencies. Academic sessions on research and project development were conducted by Professor Hemamali Gunathilaka, Professor Dushan Jayawickrama, and Professor Vilani Sachithra, with facilitation support from Professor Anuradha, Professor Upuli Perera, and Dr. Sepali Bamunusinghe. The second day included outdoor team-based activities designed to enhance leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Overall, the workshop effectively supported students’ postgraduate readiness, confidence building, and peer interaction within the MBA/MSc Programme of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

A Successful Completion of the OBT Programme for MBA 2024 (October) Intake
The Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura successfully conducted the Outbound Training Programme (OBT) for the MBA/M.Sc. in Management 2024 (October) Intake on December 13th and 14th, 2025, at Club Waskaduwa Resort & Spa.
Bringing together over 40 students, the event provided unique learning experience designed to foster independent learning, leadership development, and teamwork through indoor and outdoor activities. This OBT Programme was conducted to provide a dynamic and immersive learning experience for aspiring MBA students. By stepping away from traditional classroom settings, students engaged in various interactive challenges, reinforcing essential managerial skills.
The students were grouped and creatively performed under the theme ‘Learn to Live with Diversity in the Workplace,’ showcasing their talents and highlighting work-related situations through which they learned the principles of equality and inclusion. The students designed creative and innovative fashions using newspapers and constructed balloon towers with limited resources, reflecting their imagination and team spirit. The activity was interactive and enjoyable, and the students participated with great enthusiasm. This programme conducted by Prof. Kumuduni Sriyalatha, Coordinator of the MBA/M.Sc. Programme, and Ms. WRM Shehani Shanika, Assistant Coordinator of the Programme. In addition to that, there was an evening gathering with some entertaining indoor activities. Those entertaining events provided students with an opportunity to unwind, socialize, and expand their professional networks in a more informal setting.
A special session titled “Mindfulness for Postgraduate Students” was conducted on 14th December by Dr. Kalharie Pitigala, Child adolescent, and Counseling Psychologist at Asiri Hospitals and Wellness Consultant at MAS Intimates, together with Mr. A. L. Lalith, Psychological Counsellor at Vida Healthcare Services and Visiting Counsellor at MAS Intimates. The session was highly insightful and inspiring, providing postgraduate students with a clear and meaningful understanding of mindfulness. The knowledge gained is expected to enhance their academic performance while also positively contributing to their personal well-being and everyday lives.
