Ave Maria Convent recently celebrated a monumental achievement on the international stage at the 10th South Asian Karate Championship 2026, held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Representing both their school and country with immense skill and discipline, our young karatekas secured a series of prestigious medals, bringing pride to the entire Ave Marian community.
The schoolβs athletes dominated across several categories, showcasing their technical prowess in both Kata and Kumite.
Cadet Category Results:
Our Cadet team displayed exceptional form, particularly in the Team Kata event, where they secured the top spot on the podium.
* Amaya Gomes: Proved her mettle by winning a Gold Medal in the Individual Kumite (-54kg) and a second Gold Medal in the Junior Team Kata.
* S. A. D. N. Dianne Wijesinghe: Earned a Gold Medal in the Junior Team Kata and a hard-fought Bronze Medal in Individual Kata.
* Rosheli Hiranya: Contributed to the team's dominance by securing a Gold Medal in the Junior Team Kata.
Under 14 Category Results:
* P. L. Anuki Chenaya Perera: Delivered a standout performance in the +45kg Individual Kumite, outclassing her opponents to claim the Gold Medal.
